Objective: To investigate the clinical characteristics and in order to health resource consumption of children hospitalized for injuries in the area where the hospital is located in 2017-2021,and to provide guidance for the prevention and treatment of children injuries in this area in the future. Methods: Retrospective analysis of clinical data of children aged 29 days to 18 years old hospitalized for injuries from January 1,2017,to December 31,2021,in our hospital was conducted,in order to understand their clinical characteristics, analyze their trends over time, explore factors associated with poor clinical outcomes and identify their consumption of health resources. Results: 1.A total of 5826 children were hospitalized for injuries from2017 to 2021.Children hospitalized for injuries in the area were more common in males(63.6%),rural areas(40.3%)and adolescents(33.5%).Most of the damage occurred in the family(52.6%),and it is more common in spring and summer, especially in July to reach the peak. The most common types of injuries were falling injuries, burns and scalds, traffic injuries, poisoning and foreign body injuries(32.0%,17.9%,13.6%,8.8% and 7.9%,respectively).2.The number of injury-related hospitalizations has not decreased significantly in recent 5 years, with an average of 1165 cases. The gender difference between damage has gradually decreased, but it is still dominated by boys. The proportion of injuries in rural areas remained high(fluctuating between35.7%-46.9%).The number of falling injuries(2017-2021: decreasing from 513 cases to 362 cases)and burns and scalds(2017-2021: decreasing from 278 cases to 168 cases)had a significant downward trend, while traffic injuries had an insignificant downward trend. After 2019,the proportion of intentional injuries in adolescent girls was significantly higher.3.Adolescent children were at higher risk of poor prognosis than other age groups.Of all common injuries traffic injuries were the most common type of injury leading to poor clinical outcomes(OR=13.03,95%CI=5.39-31.51),followed by falling injuries(OR=4.85,95% CI=2.20-10.67).4.Rural areas, adolescent children, traffic injuries and falling injuries accounted for high consumption of health resources. Conclusion: The situation of children unintentional injuries in this area is still serious, mainly in rural areas, adolescence, male children, therefore, the prevention of unintentional injury in rural areas and among adolescence should be the focus of the future prevention and treatment of injuries. At the same time, attention should be paid to intentional injuries in adolescent female children.Traffic injuries and falling injuries are the most harmful types of injuries in terms of occurrence ratio, poor prognosis and consumption of health resources,so prevention and control should be strengthened.
