Development Of Illness Perception Scale For Somatization Symptom

Objective:In recent years,somatization of patients with mental illness has become more and more obvious.Patients’ attitude to somatization affects patients’compliance,efficacy and prognosis.It is necessary to understand patients’attitude to somatization.The research based on the theory of illness perception,combined with the classical scale and clinical experience,a somatization symptom related illness perception scale was developed to facilitate the simple and efficient evaluation of patients’ somatization belief and put forward improvement strategies.Methods:1.Literature review method:Domestic and foreign literatures were consulted to understand the theoretical basis,measurement model,measurement tools and current situation of illness perception,in order to understand the problems that need to be developed and solved2.Semi-structured interview:Through the patients’ semi-structured interviews,the real thoughts of the patients were understood and summarized.Summarize and organize classical scales,literature and semi-structured interview data to form a scale item pool.3.Formation of scale item pool:Classical scale,literature and semi-structured interview data were summarized and sorted out,and repeated,redundant and ambiguous items were deleted to form the item pool of somatization symptom related illness perception scale.4.Discussion of the research group:the members of the research group with scientific research foundation and rich clinical experience analyze,discuss and modify the item pool of the scale,and adjust the order of items.5.Delphi method:The items in the scale pool were evaluated by a sufficient number of experts,and the items were modified according to the opinions of experts in the first round.The revised items were consulted by experts in the second round,and then modified again according to the opinions.Finally,the expert opinions were unified,and the perception prediction scale of somatization symptom related illness was formed.6.The patients who met the inclusion criteria were tested in Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital and Sichuan Provincial Psychiatric Medical Center.The items were evaluated by standard psychological measurement methods,and by referring to previous literature.the formal perception scale of somatization symptom related illness was formed.7.Again,the formal perception scale of somatization symptomrelated illness was tested among the patients who met the inclusion criteria in Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital and Sichuan Provincial Psychiatric Medical Center to improve the reliability and validity evaluation of the scale and test the reliability of the scale.Results:There were 16 items in the formal scale,which were divided into four dimensions:disease distress,symptom understanding,treatment attitude and medication attitude.The Cronbach a coefficient were 0.831 for the total scale,and 0.683～0.825 for the 4 subscales.There test reliability were 0.749 for the total scale,and 0.746～0.836 for the 4 subscales.which in dicated that the scale had good consistency.After two rounds of expert letter consultation,the content validity of the scale is ideal.Confirmatory factor analysis of the scale showed that the fitting model and data were well matched,the path coefficients were all within the acceptable range,and the structural validity of the prompt scale was acceptable.Finally,the total score of the scale was moderately correlated with the scores of PHQ-15,GAD-7 and PHQ-9(R=0.395～0.506,P<0.01),suggesting that the scale measurement score structure is reliable.Conclusion:The somatization symptom related illness perception scale developed in this study has good reliability and validity,providing a simple and practical tool for measuring patients’ somatization symptom perception.
