Clinical Study Of Compound Caulis Polygoni Multiflori Mixture Combined With Acupoint Application In Treating Senile Insomnia

Objective To observe the effect of compound caulis polygoni multiflori mixture combined with acupoint application to treat senile insomnia paints with deficiency of the liver and kidney.While verifying its clinical effectiveness,observe its safety and scope of application in the treatment of insomnia.Methods 60 senile insomnia patients with deficiency of the liver and kidney pattern were collected.They were randomly divided into the treatment group and control group,with 30 cases in each group.The control group was given compound caulis polygoni multiflori mixture 25ml each time,twice a day.The treatment group was additively given acupoint application.The treatment group used some Chinese medcine consisted of evodia rutaecarpa,semen zizyphi spinosae,and schisandra cultivated land,uckahoe and angelica,then mixed with the white vinegar to the size 1cm×1cm,and was fixed to the 5 acupoints including Shenmen,Sanyinjiao,Taixi,Yongquan,Taichong,by 5cm×5cm tape,once a day.Both groups were treated with medication for 4 weeks.Analyzed all the data including Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Score scale and serum 5-HT,GABA content,observed the changs before and after treatment,verified the efficacy of the two groups.Results 1.The total effective rate of the compound caulis polygoni multiflori mixture combined with acupoint application group(83.33%)was better than that of the other group(76.67%),and there was a statistical difference(P<0.05).2.The scores of senile insomnia paints with deficiency of the liver and kidney,including the integral of PSQI and the immeasurable TCM Syndrome Scale,were improved in both the compound caulis polygoni multiflori mixture combined with acupoint application group and the compound caulis polygoni multiflori mixture group.there was a statstical difference before and after treatment(P<0.05).3.The combination of compound caulis polygoni multiflori mixture and acupoint applicationgroup is superior to the compound caulis polygoni multiflori mixture group in maintaining sleep continuity and prolonging total sleep time,there was a statistical difference(P<0.05).4.After treatment,the serum 5-HT and GABA levels in the two groups were increased(P<0.05)compared with those before treatment.The intergroup comparison showed that the serum 5-HT and GABA levels in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion 1.The combination of compound caulis polygoni multiflori mixture and acupoint application group and the compound caulis polygoni multiflori mixture group both can effectively improved the integral of PSQI and the immeasurable TCM Syndrome Scale scores of the senile insomnia paints with deficiency of the liver and kidney.But the combination of compound caulis polygoni multiflori mixture and acupoint application group was superior.2.The combination of compound caulis polygoni multiflori mixture and acupoint application group was better in maintaining sleep continuity and prolonging total sleep time.2.The combination of compound caulis polygoni multiflori mixture and acupoint application group has significant effect on treating the senile insomnia paints with deficiency of the liver and kidney may be related to the increase of serum 5-HT and GABA levels.3.Compound caulis polygoni multiflori mixture combined with acupoint application to treat senile insomnia with deficiency of the liver and kidney,was effective,high safty,applicable to a wide range of people.
