Severe pain after total knee arthroplasty(TKA)has negative impact on the patient both physically and mentally, resulting in a series of problems, delaying the patient’s recovery time, affecting the patient’s medical experience, and reducing the patient’s satisfaction.Efficient pain management in the perioperative period of TKA is of great significance.Femoral nerve block has excellent analgesic effect, but it can lead to quadriceps weakness, affect early postoperative activities, and increase the risk of falling in hospital.Saphenous nerve block is gradually becoming an alternative to FNB postoperative nerve block after TKA.This article reviews the anatomical features associated with SNB and different block techniques for the saphenous nerve.Intraoperative SNB by surgeons is expected to become the main way of saphenous nerve block in TKA,but more clinical trials are still needed to prove it.
