Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture combined with an electronic twisting needle instrument in the treatment of constipation in Parkinson’s disease. Methods: In this study,60 patients with Parkinson’s disease constipation who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups of 30 patients each. The selected acupoints in both groups were Baihui, the foot transport sensory area(bilateral),Sun’s nine abdominal acupuncture nine areas(bilateral),Changqu(bilateral),Tianshu(bilateral),Shang Juxu(bilateral),Foot Sanli(bilateral),Taichong(bilateral),and Sanyinjiao(bilateral). The control group was treated with conventional acupuncture, while an electronic twisting needle instrument was added to twist the head needles in the treatment group. Each course of treatment last 6 sessions, with a total of 2courses.The clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared by observing changes based on the Chronic Constipation Severity Score Scale(CSS),Constipation Patient Quality of Life Scale(PAC-QOL),and Unified Parkinson’s Rating Scale(UPDRSⅢ)before and after treatment. Results: 1.The following baseline data sets of the two groups were compared:gender, age, duration of Parkinson’s disease constipation(PDC)and H-Y classification. The differences were not statistically significant(P>0.05).2.The intra-group and inter-group comparisons were conducted for each data set before and after treatment in both groups. The intra-group scores were better after treatment than before treatment in both groups, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05);the inter-group scores were better in the treatment group than in the control group after treatment in both groups, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).3.At the end of the treatment course, the total efficacy rate of the two groups after treatment was compared. The total efficacy rate of acupuncture combined with the electronic needle twisting instrument is 76.67%,and the total efficacy rate of conventional acupuncture is 60.00%.The combined treatment group is significantly better than the conventional acupuncture group, and the difference performed statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion: 1.Both acupuncture combined with an electronic twisting needle apparatus and conventional acupuncture can effectively improve the constipation symptoms of Parkinson’s disease patients and significantly improve the quality of daily life associated with constipation.2.In assessing the improvement of constipation in PDC patients using the CSS scale, the therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined with the electronic twisting needle instrument is significantly better than that of conventional acupuncture. The specific mechanism of action needs to be confirmed by further studies.
