| Objective:To investigate the change of brain regions complexity by permutation entropy(PE)deriving from resting state functional MRI(rs-f MRI)and analyze the imaging markers of characteristics in the patients of Parkinson’s disease(PD)with depression.Methods:Forty-seven PD patients(twenty-three Parkinson’s disease patients with depression(PD-Dep),twenty-four Parkinson’s disease patients without depression(PD-NDep))and twenty-five healthy controls(HCs)were enrolled prospectively from 2020 to 2021 in the Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University.The neuropsychology tests of subjects were measured by 24-item Hamilton rating scale for depression(HAMD-24)and mini-mental state examination(MMSE).All subjects underwent MRI scans using a 3.0 T superconducting MRI scanner(SIGNA Pioneer,GE Health care,Mliwaukee,USA).The scan sequences were sagittal 3D T1 WI and based on blood oxygenation level dependent(BOLD)rs-f MRI.The total scan time was 12 min 41s.Matlab2014 b was used to process the rs-f MRI images of the three groups of patients.Data Processing Assistant for Resting-State f MRI(DPARSF)toolbox was used to extract the average PE value of each brain region.One-way ANOVA test was used to analyze the difference of the brain PE value of the three groups.Spearman correlation test was used to analyze the correlation between PE value and scale’s score in PD-Dep group.Significance indicated by P<0.05.Results:Age,gender,education and MMSE score showed no significant differences among the three groups(P>0.05).HAMD scores in the PD-Dep group was higher than those in the other two groups(P<0.001).PE values of PD-Dep group were decreased in the left anterior cingulate gyrus than those of HCs group.PE values of PD-Dep group were increased in bilateral inferior temporal gyrus and left medial superior frontal gyrus than those of HCs group(P<0.05).PE values of PD-NDep group were decreased in the left anterior cingulate gyrus and left precuneus than those of HCs group.PE values of PD-NDep group were increased in the right inferior temporal gyrus,right median cingulate gyrus and left medial superior frontal gyrus than those of HCs group(P<0.05).The PE values of PD-Dep group were increased in the left medial superior frontal gyrus,right precuneus,right insula,right middle frontal gyrus and median cingulate gyrus than those of PD-NDep group(P<0.05).In addition,the HAMD score was correlated with the PE value of the right precuneus,left medial superior frontal gyrus and right median cingulate gyrus(P<0.001).Conclusion:PD-Dep showed the abnormal complexity in varieties of brain regions,in which right precuneus,right median cingulate gyrus and left medial superior frontal gyrus related to the severity of depression symptoms.Permutation entropy may help provide reference information for early diagnosis and curative effect evaluation. |
