| Objective:This study sought to further discuss the early outcomes of thoracic endovascular aortic repair(TEVAR)in patients with acute uncomplicated type B aortic dissection(TBAD)compared with those with medical treatment. Methods:Between January 2010 and July 2021,47 patients with acute uncomplicated TBAD were retrospectively analyzed.Among them,37 patients underwent TEVAR(TEVAR group),and 10 received medical treatment(Medical group).Information about baseline characteristics and images were collected from medical records, and the thrombosis status of the false lumen and extent of the dissection were evaluated via computed tomography angiography.Early outcomes were recorded and analyzed. Results:The maximum diameter of the thoracic aorta was significantly greater in the TEVAR group than in the Medical group(P=0.024).The incidence of rupture was significantly higher in the Medical group than in the TEVAR group(P=0.001),whereas the days of hospital stay was significantly less than in the TEVAR group, and aortic remodeling was significantly better in the TEVAR group than in the Medical group(P=0.043).Conclusion:Despite longer hospital stay,TEVAR was associated with better aortic remodeling and had fewer death in-hospital compared with medical treatment in patients with acute uncomplicated TBAD.Therefore,TEVAR may be considered as an option to improve the early outcomes of these patients. |
