Objective:To observe and evaluate the therapeutic effect of treating postinfectious cough(PIC)of type of lung-spleen qi deficiency by acupuncture and moxibustion prescription of Peitu Shengjin which based on the theory of the correlation between lung and stomach.Methods:74 patients with postinfectious cough who met the criteria were included. The patients were randomly divided into 37 cases in the control group and 37 cases in the experimental group. The control group was given cetirizine hydrochloride tablets(take 10 mg orally once a day before going to bed)combined with compound glycyrrhiza oral solution(take 10 ml orally 3times a day). The experimental group was treated with the acupuncture and moxibustion prescription of Peitu Shengjin. The points that prescription included were Zusanli(ST 36),Feishu(BL 13),Lieque(LU 7)and Hegu(LI 4),both sides of which were taken.Lieque(LU7)and Hegu(LI 4)were treated with acupuncture,Zusanli(ST 36)and Feishu(BL 13)were treated with mild moxibustion. Both groups were treated for 7 days. The TCM syndrome score, cough symptom score, levels of serum interleukin-4 and safety indexes of these two groups were observed before and after treatment. After the data collect ion was completed, the data of two groups were statistically analyzed by SPSS 22.0.Results:4 cases dropped out in this study.Finally,35 cases in the experimental group and 35 cases in the control group were completed.1.There were no significant differences in age and gender between the two groups(P>0.05).There were no significant differences in cough symptom score,TCM syndrome score, levels of serum IL-4 and safety indexes between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).2.Judgment of effectiveness: There was no significant difference in terms of clinical efficacy(P>0.05).In terms of comprehensive curative effect, the effective rate of the experimental group was 91.43% and that of the control group was 68.57%.The experimental group was better than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.Cough symptom score: Intra group comparison: the total score of cough symptoms, daytime cough score and nighttime cough score of the two groups after treatment were lower than those before treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Comparison between groups: after treatment, there were no significant differences in the total score of cough symptoms and daytime cough score between two groups(P>0.05),while the nighttime cough score of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).4.TCM syndrome score: In the comparison of total score of TCM syndrome, the score in the two groups after treatment was lower than that before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),the score in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group after treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).In the score of secondary symptoms, intra group comparison: the score of symptoms such as expectoration, appetite, mental fatigue and loose stool in the experimental group was lower than that before treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).In the control group, the expectoration score was the only secondary syndrome score decreased with statistically significant difference after treatment(P<0.05).Comparison between groups: there was no significant difference in expectoration scores between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05),however,the scores of appetite, mental fatigue and loose stool in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group(P< 0.05).5.Serum interleukin-4 level: Intra group comparison: the level of serum interleukin-4 in the two groups after treatment was significantly lower than that before treatment(P<0.05).Comparison between groups: there was no significant difference in the level of serum interleukin-4 between two groups after treatment(P>0.05).Conclusions:1.Both cetirizine hydrochloride combined with compound licorice oral solution treatment and acupuncture and moxibustion prescription of Peitu Shengjin treatment were safe and effective, meanwhile, can improve the symptoms of cough and expectoration as well as decreasing the levels of serum IL-4.2.The comprehensive effect of acupuncture and moxibustion prescription of Peitu Shengjin treatment is better, and it has more advantages in improving patients’ symptoms such as cough at night, appetite, mental fatigue and loose stool.3.The mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment may be related to lowering the level of interleukin-4,and the specific pathway and regulation mechanism need to be further studied.
