Objective: To explore the contents of Zhang Zhicong’s theory of the six meridians of qihua, including how Zhang Zhicong used the theory of the six meridians of qihua to elucidate the laws of the transmission of meridians in Treatise on Typhoid, the medical theory in Treatise on Typhoid, and to explain the prescriptions and syndrome in Treatise on Typhoid,so as to better promote Zhang Zhicong’s medical theory Typhoid, which can be useful for guiding clinical practice. Methods: This paper uses a combination of documentary and theoretical research methods to briefly discuss Zhang Zhicong’s biography, academic origins, and academic characteristics.Using his main work on The Collected Commentaries on Typhoid Fever, supplemented by the works of Zhang and other medical practitioners of the same school,to study the specific contents of Zhang Zhicong’s theory of the six meridians and qihua of typhoid fever, and to discuss Zhang Zhicong’s research on the medical theory and prescriptions in Treatise on Typhoid. Results: Completed the systematic discussion of Zhang Zhicong’s three Yin and three Yang transmission, selected and discussed Zhang Zhicong’s unique medical theory, organized and summarized the academic characteristics of Zhang Zhicong, and annotated the theory of Zhang Zhicong’s six meridians of qihua to identify the prescription. Conclusion: Zhang Zhicong pointed out that the essence of the six meridians is the unification of qihua, meridians and viscera. His theory of qihua of the six meridians is scientific;he proposed “qi transmission rather than meridian transmission, and positive transmission rather than evil transmission” in the interpretation of the transmission of Treatise on typhoid. He first gave a clear theoretical definition of the number of days in Treatise on Typhoid.“Typhoid Fever one day,the jueyin suffers” clarified the pathogenesis of jueyin disease. His Yangming differentiation among stomach qi,dry qi and humble qi explained the relationship between stool and urine in Yang Ming disease. The theory of qi-hua of the six meridians of Zhang Zhicong is used to select and identify the prescription and syndrome in Treatise on Typhoid.Zhang Zhicong’s medical theory on Treatise on Typhoid is one of the important ideological theories in the study of Treatise on Typhoid, which enriches the content of Treatise on Typhoid and provides new ideas to guide clinical practice.
