Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical effect of arthroscopic single-row and double-row suture bridge fixation in the treatment of rotator cuff tears, and whether there is any difference between the two treatment methods. Methods: The retrospective study period was January 2016 through June2020.The patients were diagnosed as rotator cuff tears in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University and underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.48 patients who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair were enrolled in this study, including 23 cases in the suture-bridge double-row group and 25 cases in the single-row fixation group. Both groups were diagnosed with rotator cuff tears before operation, and were confirmed by imaging examination and physical examination. The rotator cuff tears of the patients included in the study were suitable for the above two kinds of operation. The shoulder scores of the patients were recorded 6 months after surgery. Results: A total of 48 patients,of whom 25 were treated with an single-row repair and 23 with a double-row suture bridge repair were followed up and got complete follow-up data after 6 months. All patients had good wound healing,no incision or intra-articular infection,no complicated nerve injury. No significant difference were found in gender, age, dominant arm, operation side, smoking history, diabetes history and BMI between the two groups(P>0.05).The operation time of double row suture bridge was slightly longer than that of single row fixation group(P<0.05),but the hospital stay of the two groups were comparable(P>0.05).In addition, shoulder pain and joint function scores did not differ significantly between the single-row fixation group and the suture-bridge double-row group in preoperative(P>0.05).At the 6-month follow-up,all scoring parameters applied improved significantly in both groups as compared with preoperative values.and the suture-bridge double-row group showed better results in terms of functionality and pain relief than that of the single-row fixation group(P <0.05).Conclusion: Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair yielded satisfactory clinical outcomes,it is an effective way to treat rotator cuff tears. The early functional score of the suture-bridge double-row fixation group was better than that of the single-row fixation group, indicating that the suture-bridge double-row repair technique under shoulder arthroscopy may be conducive to the healing of tendon and bone in the early stage, but the long-term clinical effect needs to be further studied.
