| Objective: This article reviews the research progress on the relationship between perioperative blood transfusion and the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer in recent years. Methods: The database of Pub Med,Medline,Embase,Cochrane Library,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,Chinese Sci-tech Journals,Chinese Journal Full-text Data,China Knowledge Network,Wipu Network and Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform were searched from bulit to July 2017,and the data extraction and quality evaluation of the included literature were carried out using Rev Man 5.3 software for meta-analysis.Results: A total of 21627 patients were included in 24 trails.Meta-analysis showed that the 5-year survival rate was reduced by 56%(OR = 0.47,95% CI = 0.30-0.73,(OR =3.02,95% CI = 1.32 ~ 6.92,P <0.01).The incidence of complications in the transfusion group(OR=1.94,95%CI=1.61~2.32,P<0.01)and the probability of recurrence and metastasis was(OR=4.69,95%CI=3.03~7.27,P<0.01)both higher than the non-transfusion group, the differences were statistically clear. For patients with stage I,II and stage III gastric cancer, the 5-year survival rate of blood transfusion group was significantly lower than that of non-transfusion group, the difference was statistically significant. For patients with stage IV gastric cancer the difference was not statistically significant. Conclusion: Blood transfusion can reduce the 5-year survival rate of patients with gastric cancer, improve the recurrence and metastasis rate and the incidence of complications. For patients with stage I,II and stage III gastric cancer, perioperative blood transfusion can increase the overall survival risk. |
