Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effect of Radial Extracorporeal Shock Wave therapy on chronic prostatitis(ⅢB).Methods: Forty-five cases with chronic prostatitis(ⅢB)were divided into two groups. The treatments of Extracorporeal Shock Wave was given in therapeutic group(20cases),once a week for eight weeks of treatment(one course),each with 3,000 points. The treatments of medicine(Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs、Alpha receptor blocker)was used in control group(20 cases).NIH-CPSI score、IPSS score、VAS score、IIEF-5 score were performed in 2 groups at 4 weeks after treatment 、 8 weeks after treatment. Results: The symptoms of chronic prostatitis after treatment in the 2 groups were obviously improved. There was a statistically significant difference between the NIH-CPSI、VAS、IPSS、IIEF-5 scores、QOL score before and after the treatment(P<0.01).There were statistically significant differences in NIH-CPSI and IIEF-5between the therapeutic group and the control group after 8 weeks of treatment(P<0.05).There was no statistical difference between VAS and IPSS(P>0.05).Statistics show that the impact of the Bobbi drug group on the improvement of the symptoms of chronic prostatitis is more obvious. After 3 months, the recurrence rate of the follow-up shock wave group was lower than that of the drug group(4% to 50%,P<0.05).Conclusion: Radial Extracorporeal shock waves can be used as a substitute for drug treatment, and the curative effect is more obvious. The effect lasts longer, without side effects and complications. The technique of Radial extracorporeal shock wave therapy for the treatment of chronic prostatitis(ⅢB)is simple, safe and satisfactory. It can be used as a new type of treatment for prostatitis of type III B.
