Reproductive characters are important economic characters and have great influence on chicken breeding.Fast and slow plumage is an important technique for the identification of male and female in the production of matching lines,but its genetic basis has not been fully revealed.Therefore,this study first explored the types and distribution of slow feather genotypes in different varieties,and took Jinghong 1 population with the most abundant slow feather genotypes as an example to systematically explore the effects of different slow feather genotypes on reproductive traits such as egg production and sperm storage ability.The research group conducted phenotypic selection on the sperm storage ability of Xinhua chickens in the previous period,and found that the sperm storage ability of generation 1 was significantly improved compared with generation 0.Therefore,this study further selected generation 1 to obtain generation 2 on the basis of generation 1,and measured its sperm storage ability,and compared with the population data of generation 1,so as to evaluate the breeding effect of sperm storage ability of Xinhua chickens.The main results of this study are as follows:(1)In this study,six different combinations of late feather genotypes were identified,which based on two populations of late feather chickens,Jing Hong No.1 parent breeder and Xinhua chickens.It was found that individuals carrying either of ev21 gene insertion(OR)or fusion gene d PRLR-d SPEF2,or both,showed late feather phenotype.(2)This study found that individuals with ev21 gene insertion(OR)or fusion gene d PRLR-d SPEF2 or both present late feathers,while those without ev21 gene insertion(UR)and fusion gene d PRLR-d SPEF2 present early feathers.The early and late feather genotypes of some Indigenous Deshi chickens from China and Bangladesh were detected,and the results showed that all the early feathering genotypes of Chahua chickens,Lindian chickens,Turpan fighting chickens and Bengal chickens were early feathering genotypes.Late feather genotypes were detected in Tibetan chickens,Habad broilers,White Leghorns,Shuanglian chickens,Jingyang chickens,Jianghan chickens and Hongshan chickens,and the most common late feather genotypes(K3)carrying both OR mutation and fusion gene d PRLR-d SPEF2 were found.Among all the varieties involved in this study,Jinghong NO.1 population had the largest number of late feather genotypes,mainly K3 and the late feather genotypes(K4)with normal UR replaced by OR.(3)By analyzing the laying rate of different late feather genotypes in Jinghong 1,it was found that among 5 genotypes detected in Jinghong NO.1,the K3 group carrying fusion genes d PRLR-d SPEF2 and ev21 inserted at the same time had the highest egg production.K4 group with fusion gene d PRLR-d SPEF2 and normal UR region replaced by OR mutation had the lowest egg production.It was also found that the egg production of the late feather genotypes with fusion genes was relatively higher than that of other late feather genotypes without fusion genes.Genotypes carrying both the OR mutation and the normal UR region produced significantly more eggs than genotypes with the normal UR region replaced by the OR mutation.(4)Through the association analysis of different late feather genotypes and sperm storage traits of breeding chickens,it was found that there were no significant differences between late feather genotypes and fertilization rate,DN,FN and other indicators(P>0.05).(5)In this study,the selection effect of B,C and D lines in the first generation and the second generation of high sperm storage capacity population of Xin Hua chickens was compared.It was found that the sperm storage capacity of B,C and D lines in generation2 was longer than that in generation 1,and the number of individuals who laid fertilized eggs in generation 2 on the 16 th day after sperm transfusion accounted for a larger proportion in the population.Compared with the previous generation,the high sperm storage time of Xinhua chickens has been significantly improved after another generation of breeding.
