China has abundant reservoir resources with rich bait resources, but there is currently a lack of scientific guidance for the development and utilization of ecological fishery in reservoir. Therefore, conducting surveys of bait organisms in reservoirs can provide basic data for the sustainable development of ecological fisheries in reservoir. In this study,we took nine reservoirs in Hong’an County,Hubei Province as research objects, and monitored and evaluated the composition, density, biomass and fish production potential of their bait organisms such as phytoplankton, zooplankton and zoobenthos, respectively,to provides basic information and theoretical basis for the development and utilization of ecological fishery in reservoirs in Hong’an County. The main result were as follows:1.The survey results showed that 122 species of phytoplankton were detected in seven species in the nine reservoirs with densities ranging from 0.04×10~5to 4.99×10~5ind./L,with an average density of 2.29×10~5ind./L.The average biomass averaged32.03 mg/L and with a variation range from 0.41 to 173.77 mg/L.The average yield potential of silver carp, bighead and other filer-feeding fishes in nine reservoirs in Hong’an County was estimated to be from 14.7 to 14020.6 kg/hm~2based on the phytoplankton biomss.2.A total of 73 zooplankton species were detected in the nine reservoirs, including 10 protozoa,45 rotifers,15 cladhorn species, and three copepods. The density of zooplankton ranged from 4.45 to 167614.00 ind./L,with an average density of 27817.64 ind./L.The average biomass of zooplankton in the nine reservoirs was124.02 mg/L,with a variation range from 0.07 to 1068.22 mg/L.The production potential of silver carp, bighead and other filterfeeders in the nine reservoirs ranged from 6.1 to 3794.4 kg/hm~2according to zooplankton biomass.3.A total of 18 benthic species were detected in the nine reservoirs, including 12annelids,five arthropods and one mollusca. The density of benthic animals ranged from 0 ind/m~2to 1328.00 ind/m~2,with an average density of 240.00 ind/m~2,and the biomass ranged from 0 to 1.5536 g/m~2,with an average biomass of 0.5115 g/m~2.The standing stock of benthic animals was used to estimate the production potential of benthic fish such as common carp and goldfish in the nine reservoirs and the results were from 0.3837 to 0.6395 kg/hm~2.
