Lilium spp.is a perennial herbaceous bulbous flower of Liliaceae family,which has high ornamental value and likes cool and humid climate.With the continuous development of the flower industry and the improvement of people’s living standards,flower exhibitions have gradually emerged as a rural tourism activity,especially during the National Day and other major events.Therefore,it is very important to choose the heat-resistant lily varieties that can grow in the high temperature environment in summer and be listed during the National Day.For this reason,26 cut lily varieties and 15 potted lily varieties were tested for low temperature rooting treatment and heat resistance evaluation in Nanjing.The main research contents,results and conclusions are as follows:(1)Twenty-six cut of flower of lily varieties from 5 series were planted in plastic film greenhouse.It was found that the growth period of Asiatic lily and LA Hybrid lily was short,generally about 50 days,with rich and varied colors.However,under high temperature,7 varieties appeared bud abortion.Oriental lilies are large and generally fragrant,but their overall performance is not good in summer.Five varieties have lodging plants,and three varieties have malformed flowers,which are susceptible to diseases and insect pests.The OT Hybrid lily LO Hybrid lily performed well in summer,with tall and straight plants,strong stems,no lodging and good overall growth.After scoring by the evaluation standard of heat resistance of cut flower of lily,nine varieties,such as‘Master’,‘Redstone’and‘Triumphator’,scored more than 80 points,indicating that these varieties have strong heat resistance and can be cultivated in summer.The highest average score is LO Hybrid lily,followed by OT Hybrid lily,and Oriental lily has the lowest average score.(2)Two series of 15 potted lily varieties were planted in plastic film greenhouse.It was found that Potted Asiatic lilies have short growth period,bright and rich colors,compact plants,many flowers and strong disease resistance.However,four of them had bud abortion and even plant death.Potted Oriental lilies are big and fragrant.Only‘After Eight’appeared bud abortion.The growth period of Potted Oriental lily is longer than that of Potted Asian lily.In high temperature environment,‘Sunny Martinique’ and‘Jefferson’have flower deformity,while ‘ Sunny Keys ’ is susceptible to diseases and insect pests.According to the evaluation standard of heat tolerance of potted lily,five varieties,such as‘Sunny Bahamas’ and‘Sunny Azores’ scored higher,which is suitable for cultivation in summer.(3)A total of 41 lily varieties were tested by low temperature treatment and evaluated for their heat resistance.It was found that the scores of other varieties after low temperature treatment were higher than those of the control group except‘Jefferson’,‘Armandale’,‘Original Love’ and‘Maldano’.The results showed that:(1)LO Hybrid lily and OT Hybrid lily could be planted under high temperature in summer;Although the growth period of Asiatic lily and LA Hybrid lily is short,the quality can not be guaranteed and should be carefully selected;Oriental lily does not perform well at high temperature,so it is not recommended to plant them in summer.(2)The performance of potted Asiatic lily and potted Oriental lily in summer has its own advantages and disadvantages,so when planting in summer,the varieties should be selected flexibly according to the demand.(3)Low temperature treatment can improve the heat resistance of lily.When planting lily in summer,it is beneficial to the growth of lily in summer to treat lily bulbs at low temperature before planting.So the low-temperature rooting treatment is a feasible technique for lily cultivation over summer.
