The tilapia industry provides stable employment opportunities and high-quality animal nutrition protein for millions of people, increases the income of fishermen, and improves social well-being.The current situation of the domestic and international tilapia industries,as well as structural adjustments,supply-demand balance,cost-effectiveness,and policy changes, are all examined in this report. It examines factors of production, demand elements, government policy, corporate strategy, structure and competition and related and supporting industries using Michael Porter’s "Diamond Model." Simultaneously, the principal component analysis approach was used to assess the degree of impact of various influencing factors on China’s tilapia industry’s competitiveness. The socioeconomic, tilapia breeding production, and tilapia industry competitiveness situation are also discussed in the paper. The paper also develops a framework for evaluating tilapia export competitiveness, including a revealed comparative advantage index, trade competitive index, international market share, domestic market share, and export contribution rate.In conclusion, this study examines the tilapia industry competitiveness and its influencing factors in China. The findings revealed that,in terms of production, suitable natural resources(M = 3.98),in demand element;there is a great demand for tilapia products in the international market(M =3.36),in terms of government policies;the government’s support policy is conducive to the sales of tilapia products(M = 3.40),in terms of corporate strategy, structure and competition;brand building is conducive to industry development(M=4.16),and at the same time,it is also facing the problem of the number of large-scale enterprises that needs to be increased,in terms of related and supporting industries;close connection between seedling, feed, processing and other industries(M = 3.74).China has gradually established a green and healthy ecological breeding system, which is conducive to the improvement of the competitiveness of the tilapia industryThe results showed that 50 farmers from five provinces were characterized by 96% males and 4% females.Farmers are between the ages of 41 and 60.Around 72% had some kind of education, ranging from high school to above. The majority of farmers in the study region received 25-50% of their total annual income from tilapia farming.Private and family owners own 48% and 48 %of the farmland, respectively, and in 88% of the cases, the land is more than40 acres. The majority of farmers 34% agree that breeding tilapia takes 5-10 years, and that the number of full-time 44% and temporary 35% employees employed is between 1 and 5,with a per-mu income of 3000-6000 yuan 34%.Ten factors were grouped into four key principal components based on PCA performance. The first principal component, which represents potential competitiveness,is market demand, seed, feed, and processing industry growth, and product quality.Natural resources and infrastructure conditions, frequency of breeding technical guidance, and external service provision account for a larger load in the second principal component, which represents basic competitiveness.Input-output ratio and Government policy support account for a larger load in the third principal component which represents realistic competitiveness.Labor resources and competition in the same industry accounts for the larger load in the fourth principal component which represents alternative competitiveness.By constructing tilapia export competitiveness evaluation index system, evaluation of the Chinese tilapia industry’s export competitiveness. The results show that the revealed comparative advantage index(RCA)of Chinese tilapia products is greater than 7,indicating that Chinese tilapia products have obvious competitive advantages in the domestic and foreign markets;the trade competitiveness index(TC)of Chinese tilapia products is very high, mainly trade competitiveness of export products and export market value of nearly 1;in recent years,Chinese tilapia industry exports contribution rate increase international market share larger, overall international market share maintained at 70 % above, while the domestic market share accounted for 99% or more, explained China’s tilapia obvious advantages of product market competition at home and abroad.Farmers should cultivate the domestic consumer market to increase the market share of tilapia fish products. The study emphasizes the importance of researching international competitors’ tilapia development, acquisition, processing, export, and other relationships, learning from their advantages, and taking measures to eliminate international barriers, protect and consolidate conventional markets, and implement a diversified export strategy. The study highlights the importance of involving women in tilapia development in order to motivate them and increase their financial freedom,as well as the implementation of new technologies, the allocation of more farmland, and credit facilities that will make work less strenuous.
