| Peonies are a traditional and renowned flower of Chinese nation,known as the "king of flowers" for their beautiful appearance and striking colors.Peonies can be processed into dried flowers,which not only preserve their natural form and color,but also have a significant impact on the development of the peony cultural and creative industry chain,the enhancement of the economic benefits of the peony industry,and the improvement of people’s living standards.This article explores how to produce dried peony flowers,covering four main aspects: peony drying experiments,film softening treatment,process optimization,and derivative product design.The main results of the study are as follows:This study used the entropy-weighted TOPSIS multi-objective decision-making method to select several indicators,such as petal water loss rate,shrinkage rate,tensile strength,elongation at break,and puncture strength,and to assign weights to them.Then,an entropy-weighted TOPSIS model was established to effectively evaluate the selection criteria for drying time,sensory quality of dried flowers,and texture property differences.The experimental showed that the best drying method for purple peony petals was embedding drying for 25 hours,and for the inner,middle,and outer layers of yellow peony petals,it was embedding drying for 30,40,and 40 hours,respectively.The results also proved that embedding drying could shorten the drying time and protect the petals well.The flower film softening experiment revealed that applying film treatment to the petals at the optimal drying time significantly improved their tensile strength and puncture resistance.The maximum tensile strength increased by up to 48 times,and the maximum puncture strength by up to 12 times.The film treatment also preserved the petal’s elongation at break,which indicates the petal’s toughness.This demonstrates that the epoxy resin two-component curing adhesive is a suitable formula for peony dried flower softening treatment.Based on the research on the dried flower processing technology,a set of equipment for making dried flowers was designed.The equipment structure has four parts,from top to bottom: a sand-leakage device,a support frame,a flower container,and a rotator.The equipment simplifies the buried sand drying method in the dried flowers making process and improves the production process of peony dried flowers.It is easy to operate and suitable for household-scale dried flower production.To conclude,this paper proposed a design strategy for cultural and creative derivative products based on two key factors.This paper also shows how dried peony flowers can be combined with modern crafts in various ways through three-dimensional and flat craft creations.The present study aims to provide guidance and reference for designing cultural derivative products with dried peony flowers. |
