At present,the demand for grafted seedlings in China’s melon production is increasing,however,the production and storage of melon grafted seedlings still lack uniform standards,which restricts the production and application of melon grafted seedlings.In response to the above problems in melon grafted seedling production,this project uses thin-skinned melon‘Yingjiaosu’and pumpkin rootstock‘Mingxiu’as test materials to optimize the production and storage process of melon double-root splice grafted seedlings,experiments were conducted on rootstock and scion sowing density,seedling age,rootstock break angle and height,temperature and light of commercial seedling storage and transport environment,in order to provide a reference standard for nurseries.The findings are as follows:1.Effects of rootstock and scion seedling age on the quality of melon grafted seedlings.Nine grafting combinations were constructed based on three different rootstock seedling ages(rootstock with a true leaf revealed,true leaf coin size,one leaf one heart)and three different scion seedling ages(scion with a true leaf revealed,one leaf one heart,two leaves and one heart).The results showed that the indexes of grafted seedlings produced by the combination of scion with a true leaf revealed and rootstock with a true leaf revealed were better.Moreover,it is the optimal combination with short nursery time and fast emergence.2.Effect of seeding density of rootstocks and scions on the quality of melon grafted seedlings.A total of six combinations of three sowing densities of rootstock(50 holes1 hole 1grain,50 holes 1 hole 2 grains,50 holes 1 hole 3 grains)and two sowing densities of scion(128 holes tray and 200 holes tray)were comparatively studied,and the results showed that from the perspective of strong seedling cultivation,rootstock prefers 50 holes 1 hole 1grain sowing seedling,and scion prefers 128 holes to raise seedlings,but from a comprehensive point of view of strong seedlings,cost and space utilization,the nursery can use the combination of scion 128 holes tray seedlings and rootstock 50 holes 1 hole 2 seedlings to produce grafted seedlings.3.Effect of rootstock breaking method on the quality of melon grafted seedlings.The root cutting mode of rootstock was divided into two aspects:root height and root angle.The height of the rootstock of 6-7 cm was more appropriate,and 6 cm was better.The rootstock can be cut at an oblique angle to improve the quality of melon seedlings in production.4.Effect of storage and transport temperature on the quality of melon grafted commercial seedlings.Four treatments were set up:at room temperature,normal growth and storage at different temperatures(12°C,15°C,18°C)in dark conditions,the control was a commercial seedling with three leaves and a heart.The results showed that the growth of seedlings at room temperature was not limited,and by the 10th day,they had grown to four leaves with one heart,the aging was obvious,it was necessary to store and transport the seedlings.The appropriate dark storage and transport temperature of melon grafted seedlings is 12°C,and the time no more than 4 days is appropriate.5.Effect of light intensity of storage and transport on the quality of melon grafted commercial seedlings.The effects of light intensity and light time combinations(CK:3 leaves 1 heart;G1:dark,no supplementation;G2:12μmol·m-2·s-1,supplementation for 24h;G3:24μmol·m-2·s-1,for 12 h;G4:48μmol·m-2·s-1,for 6 h)were studied at12°C.The results showed the supplemented light storage were better than those of the dark treatment,and supplemental light could extend the storage and transport time of the seedlings.There was no significant difference between the supplemental light treatments.
