The Babylonia areolata is one of the important commercial marine animals in the southeast coastal areas of China,it has the advantages of fast growth rate,short breeding cycle,large individual,high yield,delicious taste,rich unsaturated fatty acid content,it is deeply loved by people.As one of the essential trace elements of living creature,selenium can promote the growth of animals,improve antioxidant capacity and immunity,and it can also protect biological bodies from damage by reactive oxygen species.In this study,the B.areolata was used as the experimental object,in order to examine the effects on the growth performance,nutritional level,enzyme activity and metabolomics analysis of B.areolata,yeast selenium(YSe)and sodium selenite(Se)were used as selenium sources,0.6 mg/kg of Se and different levels of yeast selenium were added to the feed,including low dose of yeast selenium(L-YSe)、middle dose of yeast selenium(M-YSe)and high dose of yeast selenium(H-YSe).The main results are as follows:1.In terms of growth performance,the WGR and SR of M-YSe was significantly higher than the CK、Se、L-YSe、H-YSe and YSe-(P<0.05),but in terms of WGR and SR between the Se and CK group showed non-significant effect(P>0.05).These results indicated that proper intake of yeast selenium could promote the growth of B.areolata,and the effect of yeast selenium on the growth of B.areolata was better than that of sodium selenite.2.In terms of the nutrition,there were no significant difference between each group in the crude ash content of the soft body(P>0.05);the M-YSe group had the highest SB/SR,it was significantly higher than the Se and YSe-(P<0.05),but it was not significantly different from the CK、L-YSe and H-YSe group(P>0.05);the Se group had the lowest SB/SR.These results can be speculated that the intake of an appropriate amount of yeast selenium has a certain effect on improving the meat quality of B.areolata.3.In terms of enzyme activitives,the SOD,CAT,T-AOC enzyme activities of M-YSe group at 30 th day were significantly higher than other groups(P<0.05),and its MDA enzyme activity was significantly lower than other groups(P<0.05);the activities of lipase(LPS),amylase(AMS)in the M-YSe group at 30 th day were significantly higher than the CK、Se、L-YSe、H-YSe and YSe-group(P<0.05).These results indicated that the intake of appropriate yeast selenium could improve the antioxidant capacity and digestion ability of B.areolata,it could play a protective role during the growth and development of B.areolata.4.Comparing the differential metabolites between the M-YSe group and the CK group,it is speculated that the intake of yeast selenium can affect the amino acid metabolites and related metabolic pathways of the B.areolata,and it is speculated that selenium can enhance the antioxidant capacity of the B.areolata and improve the flavor of the meat.In summary,compared with sodium selenite,yeast selenium was more easily absorbed by B.areolata,and at the same time,yeast selenium could better promote the growth of B.areolata,improve its antioxidant capacity and digestive enzymes.activity and improve disease resistance.This study can provide a reference for the yeast selenium culture of B.areolata.
