| Aronia melanocarpa is a deciduous perennial shrub of the genus Aronia in Rosaceae. It is a valuable tree with ornamental edible and medical applications. In this study,A.melanocarpas from three sources in Russia,North Korea and Poland, were selected for the determination of leaf pigment content and leaf color parameters to investigate their physiological indexes under different light intensity conditions.Analysis of leaf types by observation of leaf anatomical structures has been provided to summarize leaf color change pattern, develop the application of A.melanocarpa in landscape and provide scientific basis and practical guidance for its cultivation application and reasonable configuration. The results of the study are as follows:1.During the S1 period(Dark Green Period),high chlorophyll and low anthocyanin content of A.melanocarpa leaves from the three sources with dark green leaves.During the S5 period(Orange-yellow Period)with high carotenoid content, its leaves are orange-yellow.During the S8 period(Dark Red Period),the highest anthocyanin and low chlorophyll content of A.melanocarpa leaves, and the leaves were dark red.Larger values of a* in the Lab value of the leaf color parameter indicate deeper redness of the leaves. The analysis shows that the redness of the A.melanocarpa leaves of the three sources in the S8 period is in the following order: Russia > North Korea > Poland.2.During the S1 and S8 periods, chlorophyll and carotenoid contents in A.melanocarpa leaves gradually increased with decreasing light intensity. However, the content of antho-cyanin decreased gradually with the decrease of light intensity in S1 period, and increased slightly and then decreased with the decrease of light intensity in S8 period. It showed that the A.melanocarpa leaves’ color presentation well under 100%and 80% light intensity conditions, where the leaves turned color earlier and were brighter red under 80% light intensity than 100% light intensity. The analysis shows that the redness of the A.melanocarpa leaves of the different light intensity is in the following order: 80% light intensity > 100% light intensity > 55% light intensity > 30%light intensity.3.During the color change of A.melanocarpa leaves, the soluble sugar and soluble protein contents followed the same trend as the anthocyanin content, and their contents decreased under low light conditions.POD,SOD,MDA and relative permeability of cell membrane indexes were not obviously relationship to anthocyanin and leaf color parameters. The above indicators can be used as reference indicators for the suitability of the environment for A.melanocarpa growth.4.During the color change of A.melanocarpa leaves, the leaf thickness, upper and lower epidermises, palisade tissue, and spongy tissue gradually decreased, and not much change in the palisade/spongy.The A.melanocarpa was found to belong to pigmented colored leaves through its leaf anatomical structure. |
