As the powerful ability of electromagnetic control and information carrier,digital coding and programmable metasurfaces have been widely used in many fields,through the integration with other disciplines.As a major research direction in array signal processing,the estimation of direction of arrival(DOA)has been extensively used for military and civil applications.In this thesis,the programmable metasurface is applied to the estimation of DOA,and a new type of DOA algorithm based on the programmable metasurface is proposed.According to the theoretical analysis and derivation,to the joint analysis of electromagnetic full-wave simulation and theoretical calculation,the co-simulation of full-wave simulation and circuit level,and the experiments,the feasibility of the proposed algorithm is verified.The main research content of this thesis includes:1.A new type of DOA algorithm based on the programmable metasurface is proposed,with the help of Fourier transform of near field to far field,the orthogonality of Hadamard matrices and the computational imaging under the new regime.Based on the analytical derivation of electromagnetic theory,two-dimensional DOA estimation for single source and multiple sources are implemented in Matlab,respectively.2.A programmable leaky wave antenna at the working frequency of 8GHz is designed,using the technique of holographic leaky wave antenna based on impedance surface.The measure matrices could be constructed through the radiation pattern of the programmable leaky wave antenna.The one-dimensional DOA estimation for single source and multiple sources are realized through the joint analysis of electromagnetic full wave simulation and Matlab.3.A transmission-type 1-bit amplitude-coding programmable metasurface is designed with the co-simulation of electromagnetic full wave simulation and circuit level.With the simulation and experiment validation,the proposed metasurface can achieve the onedimensional DOA estimation of single source in a certain bandwidth and in a specified spatial scale.
