The Attitudes And Dilemma In English Broadcast Inside China

As the carrier of sound language,the broadcast media plays a key role in constructing the audiences' "pre-reality".Since it came into being,broadcasting has played a very important role in publicity with its wide range of communication.In the field of global communication,how to break through the existing dilemma of a very different consensus between China and the West on English internal broadcasting,which is a unique form of media,needs to be solved urgently from academia.While focusing on a special channel of China Radio International,EASY FM,this paper selects the ROUND TABLE as the analysis text to specifically discuss the media practice in its development period and strong period respectively.The paper firstly conducts two annual synthesis samples of the program over a seven-year period from 2013 to 2019,and obtains 100 audio samples,with a total of 773,298 words of artificial text transcribed.Then,according to the salient features of the topic and the degree of social attention,medical issues with 25,552 words are selected as the entry point.This paper attempts to answer the question: what is the dynamic mechanism of attitude communication in English broadcasting for internal and external publicity?What is the internal logical connection between data results and media system? The author focuses on the expression of attitude based on the meta-interpersonal function.According to the morphological characteristics of content words and function words,the expression is divided into two dimensions: implicit attitudes and explicit attitudes.The researcher selects the modal verbs which are easy to operate as analysis indicators of implicit attitudes,builds Ant Conc corpus and uses Halliday's theory of value and Palmer's theory of remoteness to specifically discuss changes of Chinese and western interlocutors' attitude and communication strategies in medical issues.Meanwhile,with the help of NRC Emotion Lexicon,the explicit attitudes of the participants are measured by R language.At the same time,through in-depth interviews with the manager of China Radio International,we can further understand the operating mechanism behind the program,so as to effectively connect with the changes of the media system.The study finds that although the low politics,which is life-style politics,has become a new orientation for program topics,the Chinese and Western guests still expressed strong attitudes towards sensitive topics such as medical issues.In the past seven years,western guests have adopted cautious and compromise strategies to express attitude in their conversations.They tend to use the past tense of modal verbs to get closer to the audience and try to convert the official language into the public language.At the same time,the proportion of their present tense is gradually increasing,which means that the difficulty of self-expression is alleviated to some extent.On the other hand,the Chinese participants frequently use high-valued modal verbs and actively dominated the topic discussion.Based on second language acquisition habits,they rely on the present tense of modal verbs to convey positive energy.From the perspective of program content generation,this kind of "sensitive topic" rich in public discussion tension has been deeply concerned.And as a typical representative,attitude communication and emotional fluctuation of the doctor-patient issue are particularly significant.Targeting on the issue of doctor-patient relationship,both sides highly expressed their anxiety on the current circumstances,reflecting the emotional commonality of the whole middle class.On the whole,the discussion of the topic presents four main emotions: trust,fear,sadness and anticipation.To be specific,positive emotions are still the mainstream attitude of the media,among which "trust" plays a dominant role.And the emotions of fear and anticipation go hand in hand.Broadcasting,as one of the social channel between the government and people,continues the questioning of "Mandarin problem",as well as giving full play to the social function of "sympathy" and forms the discourse of "sympathy".This construction is different in the expressions of Chinese and Western guests,which is also a manifestation of the experience of modernity.As a dialogue news commentary program,Round Table tries to borrow the Round Table dialogue of Western participatory democracy as a formal metaphor,and to carry out reasonable communication persuasion by referring to the other of Western conversationalists.Based on the core elements of the western social system,such as "democracy" and "rationality",it aims to carry out the dialogue and connection with the western culture.However,there are many contradictions in this process,and the overall framework is still under the guidance of the concept of "communication(Xuan Chuan)".The marketization process and the exploration of democratic discussion highlight the dilemma of China's internal and external publicity and the internal logic contradictions in the "global communication turn".The form and content production of the program do not fully reflect the ideal form that the program design hopes to produce,so there is a kind of entangled state.As a whole,the program adopts the cultural positioning strategy,carries out the mode of formal participation and partial participation,connects the middle class horizontally,and keeps a high degree of political parallelism.At the same time,economic capital and political capital have played and transformed each other during the seven years,and finally formed the current programming style.The innovation of this study lies in the fact that there are still many possibilities for the study of sound form.The author combines the media system and the dynamic mechanism of language to carry out a diachronic investigation,which enriches the extension of the study in the field of external communication,and explores a new type of communication mode for internal and external publicity.This kind of internal English radio commentary plays a leading role in the transmission of media attitude,but the transmission of attitude,emotion and position is very hidden.It is worthy of the academic community to carry out more micro detailed empirical investigation in the future,so as to respond to the question that China is currently experiencing in the practice of external communication.
