With the increasingly aggravation of the aging of our country,the problem of education for the elderly has attracted more and more attention of the country and society.The age of network has come,modern elderly distance education has gradually become the mainstream way of education for the aged.At present,there are some problems existed,such as inconsistency between the information organization structure model and the cognitive model of the elderly users,unclear classification of the information content,and confusion of the label system in the existing websites related to the elderly distance education,which lead to poor user experience for the elderly users when using the websites related to the elderly distance education.Some domestic and external scholars have studied the usability of elderly websites,and some have also studied the interface design of elderly websites,but there are few studies on the information architecture of elderly distance education websites.Many scholars mainly focus on the whole elderly user group when they study the elderly users,but few scholars study the differences within the elderly user group.Based on the problems above,the paper proposes to group the elderly users according to their educational background,network playing time,and other differences,and it also builds the elderly distance education website information architecture suitable for different elderly user groups.This study investigated the basic information and usage experiences of elderly network users,and analyzed the significant difference factors in the network experience affecting elder Internet users.Based on these influencing factors,the two-step clustering method has been used to group the elderly network users.A typical user model for each group of older web users was built by using personal characters and storyboards.This study proposed a three-staged card classification method to construct the information architecture of distance education website for the elder.Each elderly group participated in the three experimental stages of card classifying,category naming and category labeling,which helps to construct the information architecture of the elderly distance education website suitable for different elderly groups.Based on the website designing specifications and principles,the prototypical samples of the elderly distance education website,and uses the system usability scale to test the usability of the website samples have been drawn.The results showed that the application of three-staged card classification to the construction of the information architecture of distance education website for the elder can effectively improve the user experience of the aged users.
