Reading is the basis of improving the knowledge level of the whole people and building a book-fragrant society.The cultivation of reading ability can narrow the knowledge gap of people in society,cultivate the social atmosphere of lifelong learning,and improve the comprehensive competitiveness of the country.As the hope of the future of the country,the cultivation of children's reading ability is particularly important.However,due to the late start of children's reading service in public libraries in China,the theoretical basis is weak,and the policy guidelines and rules and regulations are not perfect,which directly affects the improvement of library children's reading service standard.Therefore,how to carry out children's service and how to improve children's reading service in public libraries need to be studied and discussed urgently.Based on the case study of Xiamen Children's Library,this paper makes an empirical study on the children's reading service of Xiamen Children's Library by means of questionnaire and interview and observation.However,because the children's library object—— children's age is generally small,its own understanding and answer to the questionnaire is not enough as the investigation research argument,therefore,the article is a subrogation survey of children's parents,first of all,through the investigation of parents' cognition and attitude to children's reading,to understand the importance and participation of parents to children's reading in Xiamen;then we investigate the parents' satisfaction with the children's reading service provided by Xiamen Children's Library,and understand the current situation of the library's reading service;in the end,we summarize and analyze the deficiency of children's reading service in Xiamen Children's Library,and offer some suggestions for promoting high-level children's reading service,It is hoped that this will provide reference for Xiamen Children's Library and even the government in formulating relevant policies,and also provide reference for the promotion of children's reading services in other public libraries.
