Significant technical challenges for interoperability in the Internet of Things(Io T)was introduced by the underlying devices heterogeneity,as rapidly increasing landscape of Io T devices.As devices need to enter the work of Io T through the registration,a unified form of device registration is an important method to shield the heterogeneity.In recent years,as a connection between device layer and application layer in Io T architecture,the Io T middleware has made great progress in shielding the heterogeneity.At present,It includes middleware that running on physical devices,communication gateway and semantic Io T middleware,none of them has put forward a reasonable solution on the device registration.Furthermore,some of the device registration schemes do not consider the de-tailed information of the device,while others mainly rely on developers entering manually,which causes inefficiency and high information error rate for the large number of devices.On the basis of the motivation above,this paper did relate around middleware technology,device recognition technology and device registration scheme of Io T,and proposed a new semantic based Io T middleware to achieve intelligent registration of Io T devices by integrating the named entity recognition technology,semantic and ontology technology.The middleware technology proposed in this paper mainly includes the intelligent registration function of Io T devices.It realized the intelligent registration of device details,and unified the form of device information.This technology can be divided into automatic registration and device vendor registration.The former part involves the device entity recognition algorithm in the banner information of device protocol,which is first proposed in this paper.The latter part interacts with device vendor and it actively collects equipment information.The two parts of the device information are based on the device ontology proposed in this paper,forming semantic based device information.The main contributions of the proposed scheme come as follows:(1)A semantic based Io T device intelligent registration middleware(IDRM)was designed to realize the intelligent registration function of Io T devices.The middleware is divided into three layers,which are data acquisition,intelligent registration and upper interface.It realizes the unified registration of Io T device fine grained information,and users can access devices through the unified interface transparently.The experimental results show that the middleware can realize the automatic registration of devices and the registration of device vendors,and shield the heterogeneity of devices effectively.In addition,this is the middleware which has high scalability.(2)An entity recognition algorithm based on the banner information of device protocol was proposed to automatically recognize the device entity.Through the experiment on the real banner information dataset,the accuracy of the algorithm can reach99.48%,and the false acceptance rate is 4.66%.(3)A device information ontology structure,device attribute information tree and registration rules was constructed to extract unified form of device information data from online device websites or device specifications submitted by device vendors.In the simulation experiment,the device information can be transformed into a unified form by using the registration rule.(4)A smart home system prototype with intelligent device registration function.It is developed to show the experimental results of intelligent registration function,and it can reflect the practical value of the paper.
