At the end of 2019,there appeared many cases of unexplained pneumonia in Wuhan,Hubei Province.Within four months, the pneumonia epidemic caused by the COVID-19 has spread to 212 countries and regions around the world, causing millions of infections and more than 200,000 deaths.the WHO on 30,January,2020 announced that the COVID-19 which first appeared in Wuhan,China has constituted a public health emergency of international concern and it can be characterized as a pandemic on 11,March,2020.Compared with the previous SARS,H1N1 bird flu and H7N9 flu in our country, the COVID-19 develops faster, infects more people and spreads to more countries and regions with a greater influence and a wider infectious scope.Emergent events of public health have features of uncertainty and instability.Due to its important links with public health and the development of social economy, those events are often easy to trigger social unrest and panic. As an important transmitter, supervisor and coordinator of social events, the news media often bear the responsibility for guiding public opinion, appeasing social emotions, discovering the truth and supervising public opinion which is much important compared to ordinary news reports. This research starts from People's Daily and Caixin Online, two media with different organization backgrounds and operating modes to explore how the two media based on the current media environment through the construction of a news reporting frame work, reported on the occurrence and development of the novel coronavirus. Then, the macro picture of China's epidemic development, prevention and control, and the subsequent social life of the people and social and economic recovery can be outlined.Through the comparison of the two media,we can see that the method of online media reports which gradually enter the era of Web3.0 is more diverse and comprehensive.Through data analysis and visualization methods, public health emergencies can be presented and tapped in the news from many angles.Media institutions are also more dimensional and multifaceted in the organization of the content and the presentation of the overall picture. In addition, during different periods of attention such as the incubation period, the outbreak period, and the relief period, the media's reporting perspective will also change with the development of the epidemic, and the use of the news framework will also change.Further research finds that the party media People's Daily and the commercial private operated Caixin Online shows great differences in reporting genre, reporting source, reporting emotional tone and news source, which reflects that different media backgrounds in the same event, through different news reporting framework demonstrate the heterogeneity of focus on the report of emergent events of public health. Finally, this research discusses how the news media should report emergent events of public health including the complementary of content with different media background and the employ of digital technology to extend media coverage under current network environment.Meanwhile, the research points out deficiencies of the two media in the report of the COVID-19 and ways to improve so that more feasible strategies for future media reports on sudden public health incidents are proposed.
