Information hiding technology is one of the most effective methods to cope with information security problems.With the progress of science and technology,many special application scenarios put forward higher requirements for the original carrier media.However,the traditional information hiding technology will cause irreversible damage to the original carrier media and cannot meet the practical needs.Therefore,reversible information hiding technology is proposed and plays an irreplaceable role.At present,the research results in this area of reversible information hiding are increasing with year,but this technology still has performance problems,such as low embedding capacity and low imperceptibility.In this paper,the most commonly used images are taken as the research object,and the research is carried out based on the histogram shifting method and the prediction error expansion method which can achieve high performance.The main research of this paper is as follows:(1)High capacity reversible information hiding method based on prediction error histogram shiftingOn the basis of the prediction error histogram shifting method,this paper introduces a reversible information hiding method to achieve large embedding capacity.The main work and innovation can be shown below: 1)the pre-processing of cover image is added on the basis of the original algorithm,and the image area used for information hiding is planned to facilitate the embedding of subsequent secret information;2)According to the correlation of adjacent pixel elements,a high-embedding capacity framework is proposed to realize reversible information hiding innovatively;3)The performance of the proposed method is compared with the classical and advanced reversible information hiding algorithms.The following conclusions can be drawn from the experimental results: the proposed method can guarantee higher embedding capacity,and it also has high imperceptibility under the same embedding capacity.(2)A reversible information hiding method based on rhombus predictor and prediction error expansionIn this paper,a reversible information hiding method with high imperceptibility is put forward on the basis of the method of predicting error expansion.Major innovations can be seen in the following three areas.1)A rhombus predictor is designed,and a fluctuation ordering strategy for the rhombus predictor is proposed to support the reversible information hiding algorithm based on prediction error expansion.Specifically,by comparing the local homogeneity of horizontal and vertical directions in the rhombus element with large fluctuations,the pixel points with large fluctuations were eliminated,and the more suitable pixel points were selected adaptively for prediction.In terms of the rhombus element with small fluctuation,the weight is introduced,so as to improve the accuracy of prediction.2)For the performance of rhombus predictor,an innovative framework based on fluctuation ordering is designed to support high fidelity reversible information hiding.Specifically,the proposed framework supports the improved rhombus predictor and the corresponding wave ordering strategy,which contributes to increase the accuracy of pixel prediction and the imperceptibility of the image after embedding the secret information.3)After comparing the performance of the proposed method with the classical and advanced algorithms,it can be concluded from the experimental data that the reversible information hiding method proposed in this paper based on the rhombus predictor and prediction error expansion has higher imperceptibility.
