In the software market,the success or failure of a project depends on many factors,which may be due to improper control of the project schedule,or unqualified acceptance results,etc.,but the manager of these factors,the project manager,is the key to the success or failure of the whole project.First of all,based on the theory and literature research,this paper puts forward the concept and model basis of competency for company A.based on the theoretical research,it summarizes the process and method of building project manager competency model,which provides a reference for later model construction.Secondly,starting from the current situation of the project manager competency of company a,this paper points out that the existing problems of the project manager competency of company a are the lack of effective team management ability,the inability to achieve the best performance,the lack of professional quality and clear personal career planning.The main reasons for these problems are that the project manager competency model has not been established,the selection mechanism is not reasonable,the training mechanism is not perfect,the effective assessment standards and incentive means are not available,and the ladder type team construction is not enough.In the final analysis,it is due to the lack of competency model.Based on this,based on the research of project manager competency model theory,this paper takes project manager of company a as the main research object,proposes alternative competency elements of project manager by literature analysis,and further extracts the competency elements suitable for company a's strategy by combining the results of post analysis and behavior event interview of project manager of company a,and compares them with alternative competency elements,Finally,the competency factors that affect the competency of a company's project manager are obtained,which are market awareness,professional skills,personal efficiency,organizational management ability,interpersonal relationship processing ability and knowledge and skills,six competency dimensions altogether 20 elements,so as to complete the construction of the model.In order to further verify the applicability of the model and give weight to each element,the paper uses the method of questionnaire survey and SPSS data analysis to confirm the internal consistency and effectiveness of each element,and gives corresponding weight,so as to finally complete the construction of the model.Finally,based on the competency model,the paper puts forward the improvement scheme from the three aspects of project manager selection,training and performance evaluation,in order to improve the quality of project manager and provide help for improving project efficiency.
