The Research On Privacy Management In Family Wechat Communication

With the development of Internet technology,the family communication model is under constant adjustment.While We Chat facilitates communication among family members,it also brings some privacy management issues.Indeed,privacy boundary invasions and conflicts have begun to come to the fore in social media,but there is currently relatively little academic exploration of family privacy management in digital media.In this paper,we study the connotation of privacy management in family We Chat communication,and analyze the relationship between family collective influence factors,individual members' influence factors and privacy management.Based on statistical analysis of data,we explore the privacy dilemma and causes in family We Chat communication and propose improvement strategies.Family We Chat disseminates privacy management mainly includes self-disclosure and boundary management.In self-disclosure,family members disclose different types of information to different groups.Family members generally prefer to disclose private information to close friends and disclose general information to family members.In the area of border management,family members adopt border management behaviors towards their families,especially content management behaviors,and seldom adopt time-bound management behaviors.It is common for family members to group family members in a circle of friends and not double-check the appropriateness of the grouping after it has been set for the family.Family members also rarely delete messages again because of family ties after posting a circle of friends message.The main influencing factors for family Tweets to spread privacy management include family collective influencing factors and individual member influencing factors.Family closeness is negatively correlated with privacy management,i.e.,the closer the family is,the less privacy management is used by family members.The age of family members is negatively correlated with privacy management,i.e.the older the family member,the less privacy management there is.Family members' gender,educational level,and years of We Chat usage had no significant impact on privacy management.At present,there are certain difficulties in the management of privacy in family We Chat communication,such as the low willingness of family members to actively selfdisclose;dysfunctional management of family members' privacy boundaries and blurred perception of public and privacy boundaries;generalization and alienation among family members.The main causes of this dilemma are: conflicts and problems in structuring and maintaining relationships among family members to avoid the risk of disclosure of information;weak perceptions of family members' management of privacy boundaries within the family;and differences in perceptions among family members.Improving family communication privacy management can build flexible and dynamic family privacy boundaries,includes increasing willingness to selfdisclose and maintaining personal independence,fostering a positive and open family communication culture,etc.
