The Research On The Influence Of WeChat On The Social Capital Of Migrant Workers

Based on the theory of communication and social capital,this paper takes the group of migrant workers in Chongqing as a sample,and 465 migrant workers were selected as effective survey samples by combining quota sampling with chance sampling.The influence of WeChat use on social capital of migrant workers group was studied by field questionnaire distribution and related interviews.In the questionnaire survey,this study constructed the measurement dimension of the impact of WeChat use on the social capital of migrant workers according to the previous research,and analyzed the basic use of WeChat,the number of WeChat friends,the motivation of WeChat use,the degree of WeChat dependence and its connection to bridging social capital and bonding social capital.Combined social capital;independent sample T test and variance analysis were used to analyze the influence of bridging social capital and bonding social capital;and,correlation analysis and multiple regression model were used to explore the impact of WeChat use on the social capital of migrant workers.According to the research,the size of WeChat friends,the motivation of WeChat use,and the degree of WeChat dependence have a significant impact on its social capital.Specifically,the size of WeChat's friends is positively affecting migrant workers' bridging social capital,and WeChat's virtual social way allows introverted as well as extroverted personality to easily connect with others;WeChat's use of motivation is positively affecting migrant workers' bridging social capital and bonding social capital,according to Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory,although migrant workers' groups may use WeChat for different motives,their bridging social capital and bonding social capital will increase accordingly;WeChat's dependence is positively affecting migrant workers' bridging social capital and bonding social capital,and various functions of WeChat meet the daily needs of migrant workers,while the formation of and communication between different groups in WeChat meet their social needs,which leads to the deepening of those workers' dependence,thus affecting their social capital.Then,the education level of migrant workers will have a significant difference in their bridging social capital.In addition,this study through interviews also found that migrant workers in the use of WeChat can expand the interpersonal circle,access to bridging social capital,and through WeChat to weaken their loneliness,increase bridging social capital and bonding social capital,and finally their individual limited social trust hinders the increase of bridging social capital.The innovation of this study is as follows: firstly,this study introduces the social capital scale to measure the impact of WeChat use on the social capital of migrant workers,which provides a new explanatory perspective for the impact of WeChat use on the social capital of migrant workers.Secondly,this study constructs a regression model of the impact of WeChat use on migrant workers' social capital through questionnaire survey,and deeply discusses the mechanism of WeChat use on migrant workers' social capital in combination with interview method.
