The reform of higher education has entered the new routine of connotative development. The "Double First-Class" education policy will not only promote the open competition of disciplines, but also intensify the leaders of colleges and universities to gather all kinds of resources to advantageous disciplines and potential disciplines. How to promote discipline construction, optimize the quality of personnel training and accelerate the promotion of discipline competitiveness under the background of dynamic competition is an urgent task for higher education practitioners. As a part of higher education,Library and Information Science has been faced with the awkward situation of low discipline status and insufficient discipline competitiveness for a long time in the course of development.Under the above background,It is extremely important to deeply understand the multi-dimensional factors which cause the insufficient competitiveness of Library and Information Science in China. So,we try to explore the theoretical logic behind it,and then provide scientific and rational policy suggestions for the practice and reform of discipline. It is is conducive to obtaining relevant experience by grasping the development trend of the discipline in the International Library and information science, and understanding the latest paper content trends in the international related fields Based on this, this study focuses on the comparison of academic competitiveness of Library and information science, reveals the content structure of highly cited papers of Library and information science at home and abroad by the method of bibliometrics, content analysis and visualization, which includes the characteristics of genre, theme and method structure. We point out the internal problems in discipline construction in China, and then put forward the realistic path of optimization of academic competition of Library and Information Science in China.Firstly,This thesis analyzes the research background and the current situation of academic competitiveness of Library and information, defines the concepts of high cited papers, content structure and academic competitiveness, and explains the connotation of paradigm theory, the theory of scientific organization and the theory of citation analysis.Secondly,by using the methods of bibliometric and content analysis,This thesis reveals the content structure characteristics of the highly cited papers of Library and information science at home and abroad from three aspects of genre type, research topic and research method.Through comparative analysis,it points out that there are weak basic research, narrow research topic range and obvious professional tendency in the research of Library and information science, and over reliance on theoretical speculative research methods, lacking of normative empirical research. Finally, based on the results of empirical research,This thesis puts forward three strategies to optimize the academic competitiveness of Library and Information Science in China: gathering the consensus of disciplines, attaching importance to basic research to achieve knowledge innovation;rationally expanding the boundaries of disciplines, enriching research topics to reshape the social responsibility of disciplines;strengthening research methods and standardizing empirical research to improve the level of academic research.
