The use of social media is one of the most popular activity among children,teenagers,and young adults.It provides a platform in entertaining and communicating today's youth,and it has become one of the most popular apps for accessing news and information.The adoptability of this optimistic approach of social media by the younger population may be due to their current awareness of and familiarity with the new technologies,as well as the ease of access to these social networking resources(Vorderer,2016).The purposes of this study are to explore the impact of social media on university students' academic performance in Afghanistan and to explain the connection between social networks and academic performance and to expedite the full potential of social media to various stakeholders.This study explores the role of social media in student academic efforts and their academic performance along with expediting multiple factors that could affect the nature of the relations and their preliminary effect on the academic performance of students from Kandahar University.This study was designed for quantitative data whereas,the responses of 380 Kandahar University undergraduate students were collected,scored,coded,and inserted into SPSS.The collected data was then analyzed by employing multiple statistical descriptive in the form of crosstabs,frequency tables,ANOVA,custom tables,post hocs,and Independent T-Tests.The findings of the study reveal a positive impact of social media on learners' perceptions,their academic performance,as well as the extent to which they use social platforms for academic-related purposes.In addition,it also investigates the impact of different educational majors,class level,and gender on social networking site's perceptions and usage.Further research is needed to explore learners' behaviors,their level of educational and comprehending the extensive role and impact of social media in an explicit way.
