Objective: To explore the effect of laryngopharyngeal reflux on the epiglottic cyst. Methods: The retrospective study was performed using the clinical date of 79 patients with epiglottic cyst treated by the Department of Otolaryngology Head and neck surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College from November 2020 to may2021 were included in the epiglottic cyst group, including 29 males and 50 females,aged50 ± 12 years.91 patients with normal epiglottis as the control group,40 males and 51 females, aged 47 ± 10 years. The reflux symptom index(RSI)scale and reflux syndrome score(RFs)scale(RSI > 13 and/or RFs > 7)were used to determine laryngopharyngeal reflux.170 participants were investigated on related factors. The influencing factors of epiglottic cyst were analyzed by univariate analysis, including age, gender, smoking, drinking, spicy diet, occupational exposure and laryngopharyngeal reflux.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used. Results: There were 38 cases(48.10%,3879)of Laryngopharyngeal reflux in epiglottic cyst group and 19 cases(20.88%,19/91)of Laryngopharyngeal reflux in control group. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(X~2 =1.56,P<0.001).There was a correlation between Laryngopharyngeal reflux and epiglottic cyst.Univariate analysis showed that there was no significant difference in gender(X~2=0.92,P>0.05),age(t =1.58,P>0.05)and alcohol consumption(X~2 =1.56,P>0.05)between the two groups. There were significant differences in Laryngopharyngeal reflux, smoking, spicy diet and occupational exposure between the two groups(X~2=14.06,8.89,9.83,9.60,P<0.05),which were the related factors of epiglottic cyst.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that pharyngeal reflux(or=2.307,95%CI:1.104~4.820)and spicy diet(or=2.414,95%CI:1.241~4.698)were independent risk factors of epiglottic cyst. Conclusion: Laryngopharyngeal reflux and spicy diet are independent risk factors of epiglottic cyst.Laryngeal mucosal injury caused by pharyngeal reflux may be an important reason for the formation of epiglottic cyst.In order to prevent the occurrence of epiglottic cyst,Laryngopharyngeal reflux should be actively treated. |
