Objective To explore the short-term efficacy of hepatic arterial chemoembolization(TACE)combined with 125I particles brachytherapy for the liver metastases and its impact on hepatic function and peripheral blood cells.Materials and methods A total of 54 patients with liver metastases were enrolled.Amongst,31 cases were treated with TACE only(control group)and 24cases were treated with TACE combined with 125I particles brachytherapy(research group).Indicators such as the short-term efficacy, hepatic function and peripheral blood cells were compared in the two groups. Results The effective rate(CR+PR)of the research group(42.9%)was higher than that of the control group(21.2%),but the difference was not statistically significant(χ2=3.009,P=0.083).The benefit rate(CR+PR+SD)of the research group(100%)was significantly higher than that of the control group(78.8%),which was statistically significant(χ2=4.210,P=0.040).The comparison of myelosuppression between them was not statistically significant(Z=1.609,P=0.108).As for the comparison of them before treatment and within groups, hepatic function and the complications were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion TACE combined with 125I particles brachytherapy can effectively control the progression of liver metastases without any obvious complications. It is a safe and effective treatment.
