Clinical Analysis Of Treatment In Low Rectal Cancer By Using¹²⁵I Radioactive Seed Implantation As The Preferred Alternative

Objective:To assess the efficacy of ¹²⁵I radioactive seeds implantation as the preferred treatment for low rectal cancer.Methods:A retrospective analysis was performed on 8 patients with low rectal cancer who received permanent interstitial implantation of ¹²⁵I radioactive particles under ultrasound guidance as the preferred treatment plan from January 2008 to March 2018 in China-Japan Friendship Hospital of Jilin University.All patients were diagnosed as adenocarcinoma by preoperative biopsy.Has not been 8 patients admitted to hospital before surgical treatment and other related anti-tumor treatment,adopt ultrasonic guided ¹²⁵I radioactive particles implantation therapy as the preferred treatment for low rectal cancer,using static absorption composite way of anesthesia,general anesthesia or local infiltration anesthesia surgery position take cut stone or knife,implanted ¹²⁵I radioactive particles guided by ultrasound,a total of embedded particles 12-43.Three patients received six courses of systemic chemotherapy,and three patients received immunotherapy.Elderly patients（>70 years old）did not receive adjuvant therapy.All patients with radioactive particles implantation after treatment of 1 month,2 months,4 months to court review,digital rectal inspection,chest X-ray,pelvic CT,abdominal ultrasound and/or abdominal computed tomography（CT）and tumor markers CEA examination in order to make clear the treatment effect,after two years once every 3 6 months review,assessment of tumor local control and survival time.Results:All 8 cases were performed successfully according to the preoperative plans.Except for one case of sacrococcygeal invasion who observed a 2.5x2.5cm ulcer at the posterior wall of the rectum one month after the implantation of the seeds and recovered after undergoing bicaval sigmoidostomy,all the preoperative symptoms of the other patients gradually disappeared within one month.Results from digital rectal examination showed that the location of the original tumor was tougher without bleeding.All patients were followed up.3 patients were still alive postoperative time 9,32 and 96 months respectively after operation;2 cases died of other diseases at 15 and 23 months after operation;3 cases died of multiple metastases at the time from 14 to 38 months after operation.Conclusions:It is effective to adopt ¹²⁵I radioactive seed implantation as the preferred alternative for treatment of low rectal cancer.The tumor was controlled regionally and effectively,and the survival and life qualities of patients were significantly improved.
