Objective:To evaluate the acute kidney injury(AKI)caused by different doses of non-ionic monomeric iodine contrast agents in rabbits by using intravoxel incoherent motion(IVIM)and diffusion tensor imaging(DTI).Methods:Select 36 New Zealand white rabbits and randomly divided them into A,B,C and D groups. They are equal dose of saline;half dose of iohexol;conventional dose of iohexol;double dose of iohexol.Kidney IVIM and DTI were performed on the rabbits 1h,24 h and 72 h after injection of iohexol.Three rabbits were sacrificed at random after scanning, and the right kidney was obtained for pathological analysis.Results:1 h after injection of iohexol, the D value,D~*value and f value of each group were decreased, compared with group A,the D~*value and f value of cortex in group D were decreased the most significantly(all P<0.05),the D value,D~*value and f value of medulla were decreased significantly(all P<0.05).24 h after injection of iohexol, the indexes of each group decreased significantly.Compared with group A,the D value,D~*value and f value of skin and medulla in group C and D were decreased significantly(all P<0.05).72 h after injection of iohexol, the D value,D~*value and f value of cortex and medulla in each group increased gradually, but the D value and f value of cortex in group D were still lower than those in group A(all P<0.05),and the D value and F value of medulla in group C and D were still lower than those in group A(all P<0.05).The damage of iohexol was more significant in the medulla than in the cortex.Iohexol could cause swelling, turbidity, degeneration, and interstitial congestion to glomerular and tubular cells, the pathological changes of glomerular and renal tubular cells in group D were the most obvious. The expression of HIF-1αgradually increased with the increase of iohexol dose. Conclusion:IVIM and DTI can be used to evaluate the AKI caused by different doses of non-ionic monomeric iodine contrast agents in rabbits.Half-dose iohexol had the least damage to the kidneys of rabbits, while the damage degree of double-dose iohexol was significantly enhanced. The renal injury was the most severe 24 h after injection of iohexol, and the recovery was found in different degrees at 72 h.
