The Relationship Between The Bullying Victimization And Non-suicidal Self-injury Of Adolescents

Non-suicidal self-injury behavior(NSSI),also knows as self-injury behavior,is a behavior that an individual intentionally directly harms body tissues without a clear suicidal intention,and is not recognized by the society.As an externalized problem,NSSI is showing a high incidence among young people around the world,seriously endangering the health and safety of young people.As a kind of interpersonal harm,bullying victimization will cause the bullied teenagers to experience intense pain and produce a series of chain reactions.This study takes the bullying victimization as a breakthrough point,and investigates the relationship between the bullying victimization and NSSI and its dynamic process by means of a point-to-face combination.The research is divided into two:Study 1: The in-depth interview method is used 14 both victims and NSSI to collect data,and the qualitative software NVivo11.0 is used to analyze the data,aiming at investigating the current situation,the characteristics and relationships of bullying victimization and NSSI in the current youth group.The results show that:(1)Among the types of bullying,verbal bullying has the highest incidence,followed by relationship bullying and physical bullying.(2)Focusing on the psychological process and physical manifestations of the victim,through element analysis and core clustering,this study aims at making an initial research on various physical and psychological problems including: the victim showing a variety of complex emotions,reverberation of victim experience,continuous thinking,negative cognition,negative coping and physical symptoms problems.(3)The research on the status quo of NSSI revolves around focuses on ways,incentives,functions,motivations,reasons for repeated use,and attitudes.(4)Focusing on the psychological process and physical manifestations of NSSI,through element analysis and core clustering,this study intends to make an exploration on physical and psychological problems including victims showing a sense of weight-bearing,relief,impulsivity,overload-internal-drive,pain,advantage,self-control and self-concealment.(5)Abuse and poor family function in family factors are cumulative risk factors between bullying victimization and NSSI.(6)Process analysis found that the reverberation of victimization experience,continuous thinking and questioning,and a variety of complex negative emotions are common factors before bullying victimization and NSSI.That is,negative cognition and negative emotions play an important role in bullying victimization and NSSI.Study 2.The questionnaire method was used to collect 2989 teenagers data,and the quantitative software SPSS25.0 and MPLUS8.0 were used to analyze the data,aiming at the role of current youth group’s negative cognition(rumination),negative emotion(depression)and bullying victimization and the relations between them and bullying victimization and NSS.The results show that:(1)The incidence of bullying victimization,depression,and NSSI in the current youth group is 52.0%,57.3%,and 35.6%,respectively.youngsters aged 15-16 years have a higher incidence of bullying victimization,depression and NSSI.(2)Bullying victimization,rumination,depression,and NSSI are positively correlated.rumination and depression played a chain mediating effect between bullying victimization and NSSI,which contained three significant mediating pathways: the separate mediating effect of rumination and depression,and the chain mediating.(3)There is also significant gender difference in the multiple mediating effect of rumination and depression.(4)The bullying victimization can aggravate depression by improving rumination,thus exacerbating the occurrence and development of NSSI among current female adolescents.Through this study,it is finally found that negative cognition,negative emotions,rumination and depression play an important intermediary role between bullying victimization and NSSI,and the effects of such role can continue to be seen in the middle and final stages of NSSI.Moreover,it has been found that the multiple mediating effects of rumination and depression can only be found in the female adolescent group.These results indicate that the intervention of the bullying victimization needs to be started from both levels-victims’ cognitive level and emotional level.It is necessary to guide the victims to learn the tactics of self-control and self-care so that they can treat stresses and problems from a rational perspective.Never to be excessively pessimistic.Adopt appropriate and reasonable methods to distract attention.Make every effort not to succumb to the impulse of NSSI and reduce such non-adaptive way so as to keep fit both physically and mentally.
