ObjectiveThe purpose of the research was to observe the clinical curative effect of Pricking and Cupping Combined with Peitu Qingxin Fang for atopic dermatitis through conducting prospective clinical studies.Employing the disease’s severity(EASI)as the main curative effect index, the pruritus scores and insomnia scores as the secondary indices, this research evaluated the method’s clinical efficacy and safety,so as to provide a scientific basis for the further optimization of,as well as the future exploration in,traditional Chinese medicine’s usage in the diagnosis and treatment of AD.MethodsPatients with atopic dermatitis were selected from the Department of Dermatology,Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, from October 2016 to October 2017.A total of eighty patients with heart-fire hyperactivity and deficiency of spleen were selected after screening.Patients were randomly assigned to a treatment group(pricking and cupping combined with traditional Chinese medicine)and a control group(traditional Chinese medicine combined with western medicine),each with forty patients. Both groups were treated under the premise of basic education. For a total of two weeks, the treatment group was treated with acupuncture and cupping at the selected acupoints twice a week, meanwhile receiving 1 dose of traditional Chinese medicine(TCD)per day;for comparison, the control group, while also provided the TCM,was treated with oral leucetizine hydrochloride(10 mg/ d)and dienonide cream(twice a day). The EASI,pruritus scores, and insomnia scores were observed and recorded before, one week after, and two weeks after the treatment repeatedly.Adverse reactions were also recorded.Baseline data(ages, genders, courses of disease,EASI scores, pruritus scores, and insomnia scores)of the two groups before the treatment were analyzed to check and ensure comparability. Finally, the clinical efficacy and adverse reactions(both after one week and two weeks)were compared cross-group,and conclusions were drawn.Results1.Cross-Group Comparison of Baseline Data: There was no statistically significant difference in sex, age, course of disease, and EASI scores, pruritus scores and insomnia scores between the treatment group and the control group.2.Comparison of EASI Scores After Treatment: The difference in EASI scores of the overall comparison in the treatment group and the control group were both statistically significant(P < 0.05),but the difference in EASI scores was no significant between two groups(P > 0.05).After one week of treatment, the EASI scores of both groups decreased, however, the difference, compared either across groups or retrospectively, had no statistical significance(P >0.05).After two weeks of treatment, the EASI scores of both groups continued to decrease, the difference was statistically significant if compared with that before the treatment, but the difference between the two groups was insignificant. The results suggest that both the treatment group and the control group could effectively decrease the patients’ EASI scores. The difference in EASI scores of both groups after one week compared with two weeks of treatment had no significance.3.Comparison of Pruritus Scores(VAS)After Treatment: The difference in pruritus scores of the overall comparison in the treatment group and the control group were both statistically significant(P < 0.05),but the difference in pruritus scores was no significant between two groups(P >0.05).After one week of treatment, the pruritus scores of both groups decreased compared with the pre-treatment scores, the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05),and the difference between the two groups was insignificant. After two weeks of treatment, the change of pruritus scores of both two groups were statistically significant.However,cross-group comparison showed no significant difference. The result indicated that the treatment group and the control group could both effectively alleviate the symptoms of pruritus, suggesting the two groups had the same curative effects. The difference in pruritus scores of both groups after one week compared with two weeks of treatment had no significance.4.Comparison of Insomnia Scores(VAS)After Treatment: The difference in insomia scores of the overall comparison in the treatment group and the control group were both statistically significant(P < 0.05),but the difference in insomia scores was no significant between two groups(P > 0.05).After one week of treatment, the difference of insomnia scores was not statistically significant if compared with that before the treatment, and there was no significant difference between the two groups. After two weeks of treatment, the insomnia scores of both two groups decrease significantly, the difference was statistically significant if compared with that before the treatment, but cross-group comparison showed no significant difference. The result indicated that the treatment group and the control group could both effectively alleviate the symptoms of insomnia, suggesting the two groups had the same curative effects. The difference in insomia scores of both groups after one week compared with two weeks of treatment had no significance.5.Comparison of total curative effects: The total effective rate of the treatment group was 69.2 percent, while that of the control group was 66.7percent.The difference between the two groups was not statistically significant(P > 0.05),indicating that the two groups had the same curative effect.Conclusion1.The short-term curative effect of the Pricking and Cupping Combined with the Peitu Qingxin Fang Therapy for atopic dermatitis is definite. It can effectively alleviate the symptoms of atopic dermatitis such as lesion, itching and sleep disorder. Therefore,it is worth popularizing.2.The effect of Pricking and Cupping Therapy on atopic dermatitis is comparable to that of antihistamine combined with hormone. Also, the therapy is comparatively safer and would incur less adverse reactions.
