| Objective:To describe the current status of health behaviors and oral health related quality of life of elderly diabetics,to explore the factors that affect the oral health related quality of life of elderly diabetics, and link the health behaviors of elderly diabetics with oral health related quality of life,in order to improve the health behaviors of elderly diabetics, provide a theoretical basis for improving their oral health related quality of life. Methods:Using a descriptive research design,a questionnaire survey was conducted among 300 elderly diabetics in the Department of Endocrinology and Geriatrics of the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University.Using the self-made general patient survey form, the Chinese version of the Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile II(HPLP II),and the Chinese version of the Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index(GOHAI)to analyze the demographic data,disease-related data, health behaviors and oral health related quality of life of the research subjects.Using SPSS 22.0 software to analyze the original data, use frequency and percentage to statistically describe the demographic data and disease-related data of elderly diabetics;using the mean and standard deviation to analyze the status of health behaviors and oral health related quality of life of elderly diabetics;using t-test,one-way analysis of variance, and multiple stepwise linear regression to analyze the factors affecting the oral health related quality of life in elderly diabetics;Pearson correlation coefficient method was used to analyze the correlation between the health behaviors and the oral health related quality of life of elderly diabetics.Results:1.The status quo of health behaviors and oral health related quality of life in elderly diabetics: The overall health behaviors level of elderly diabetics was 110.71 ± 16.18,and the average score was 2.46 ± 0.36.The average scores of each dimension from high to low were: nutritional behavior(3.10 ± 0.49),social support behavior(2.89 ± 0.59),selfrealization behavior(2.88 ± 0.58),stress treatment behavior(2.57 ± 0.45),exercise behavior(2.36 ± 0.58),oral health behavior(2.06 ± 0.49),and health responsibility behavior(1.96 ± 0.45).The total score of GOHAI of elderly diabetics was 46.08 ± 7.15,and the average score was 3.84 ± 0.60.The average scores of each dimension from high to low were: psychosocial function(4.18 ± 0.60),pain and discomfort(3.61 ± 0.71),and physiological function(3.59 ± 0.78).2.The influencing factors of oral health related quality of life of elderly diabetics: The results of single factor analysis showed that the factors affecting the oral health related quality of life of elderly diabetics were gender, education level, marital status, comorbidity, combined coronary heart disease, and physical exercise in blood sugar control methods(P< 0.05).In the multivariate analysis of oral health related quality of life of elderly diabetics, the variables entering the regression equation were comorbidity,self-realization behavior and oral health behavior(P < 0.05).3.Correlation between health behaviors and oral health related quality of life of elderly diabetics: There was a significant positive correlation between health behaviors and oral health related quality of life of elderly diabetics(r = 0.525,P < 0.01).Conclusion : 1.The health behaviors of elderly diabetics are at a moderate level.Nutritional behavior and social support behavior in the seven dimensions are relatively high, while the levels of exercise behavior, oral health behavior and health responsibility behavior are relatively low.The oral health related quality of life of elderly diabetics is in the upper-middle level. The level of psychosocial function in the three dimensions is relatively high, and the level of physiological function is relatively low.2.The main factors affecting the oral health related quality of life of elderly diabetics are the presence of comorbidities,self-realization behavior and oral health behavior in health behaviors.3.The health behaviors of elderly diabetics is positively correlated with the oral health related quality of life, which means that the higher the health behaviors, the higher the patients’ oral health related quality of life, and vice versa. |
