| Objective:Investigate the work pressure and physical and mental health of nurses in a tertiary general hospital in Shenyang;explore the application effect of positive psychology-based intervention on nurses’ work pressure and physical and mental health. Methods:The general questionnaire,Chinese Nurses’ Work Stressor Scale, and the Cornell Medical Index were used to conduct a questionnaire survey on 3251 nurses in a third-class hospital in Shenyang;randomly selected from the nurses with severe work pressure, and finally included 101 nurses and randomly divided into controls Group(n=50)and experimental group(n=51).The control group participated in general psychological intervention except for positive psychology. The experimental group participated in general psychological intervention and positive psychological intervention for 12 weeks. The differences in work pressure and physical and mental health of the two groups of nurses before and after the intervention were compared.Results:(1)The nurses’ work pressure score is(1.83±0.60),and they are at a moderate stress level; The highest score in each dimension is the workload and time allocation(2.04±0.80)points,and the lowest score is the management and interpersonal relationship(1.55±0.61)points;The top three items with high scores are nursing work with too low social status(2.23±0.90)points,worry about errors at work(2.21±0.94)points,frequent shifts(2.19±1.08)points;Mild stress accounts for 63.5%,moderate stress accounts for 32.7%,and severe stress accounts for 3.8%;(2)The nurses’ physical and mental health(A-R)score was(23.64±23.46),and their mental health(M-R)score was(4.88±8.15);The number of people with subhealthy body and mind accounted for 19.7%;those with subhealthy mentality accounted for 6.7%;The highest rate of positive answers for physical symptoms is A eyes and ears, and the highest rate of positive answers for psychological symptoms is M maladaptation.(3)Pearson correlation analysis found that,The scores of all dimensions of work stress and the total scores are positively correlated with the scores of physical and mental health(P<0.01);(4)After positive psychology intervention, the total scores of work pressure and the scores of all dimensions of work pressure of the nurses in the experimental group were lower than those of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);(5)After positive psychology intervention, there was no significant difference in the scores of physical and mental health(A-R)and physical health(A-L)between the two groups of nurses(P>0.05).After the intervention, the mental health(M~R)scores of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The work pressure of nurses is at a moderate level. The scores of nurses’ work pressure and physical and mental health are positively correlated;Through positive psychological interventions on nurses with severe stress, their work pressure and mental health have been significantly improved, and the intervention measures have achieved good results and are worthy of promotion. |
