Introduction: The purpose of this study was to compare the shaping ability of ProTaper Universal,Wave One Gold,M3 and One Curve in simulated L-shaped resin canals.Methods: Forty simulated canals in resin blocks were divided into 4 groups and prepared to an apical size of 0.25 mm using ProTaper Universal,Wave One Gold,M3 and One Curve systems.Pre-and postoperative images of each canal were recorded by digital camera and combined using image analysis software.The amount of remove of resin removed was measured both for the inner and the outer sides of the curvature at10 points beginning 1 mm from the end point of the canal.The preparation time was also recorded at the same time.The data was statistically analyzed using SPSS 22.0.Results: In the apical third of the canal,ProTaper Universal caused more transportation than other instruments.Compared the transportation caused by Wave One Gold,M3 and One Curve systems,it was found that One Curve caused less transportation than Wave One Gold only at the point of 3mm from the apex.At the curved part of the canal,M3 and One Curve caused less transportation than ProTaper Universal and Wave One Gold.At the straight part of the canal,ProTaper Universal caused more transportation than other instruments and M3 caused the least transportation among the other three instruments.Preparation using Wave One Gold files was significantly faster compared with others.Conclusions:All of four instruments caused some transportation.In the apical area,ProTaper Universal caused more transportation than other instruments.At the curved part of the canal,ProTaper Universal and Wave One Gold caused more transportation than M3 and One Curve.At the straight part of the canal,ProTaper Universal caused the most transportation and M3 caused the least transportation.
