Objective:1 To develop a scale of colorectal cancer patients participating in the prevention and control of surgical site infection intention and behavior, and to test its reliability and validity, and therefore,to provide a measurement tool for the effect evaluation of surgical site infection prevention and control.2 To investigate the intention and behavior status of colorectal cancer patients to participate in the prevention and control of SSI,to construct and verify the behavior mechanism model of influencing factors for colorectal cancer patients to participate in the prevention and control of SSI,intuitively present the influence path and degree of each factor on participating behavior, and provide reference for medical institutions and relevant departments to formulate prevention and control strategies of SSI.Methods:1 Based on the theoretical framework of patient participation in patient safety, this study used literature review, guide reference, patient interviews and delphi method to form a scale draft.A convenient sampling method was used to survey 320 cases of colorectal cancer surgical patients in a tertiary general hospital of Chongqing, and the reliability and validity of the scale were measured.2 Using convenient sampling method,580 patients with colorectal cancer undergoing elective surgery were investigated with general information questionnaire, colorectal cancer patients’ intention and behavior to participate in SSI prevention and control scale,Chinese patient participation ability scale, promote patients’ participation scale, patient participation attitude questionnaire, wake forest physician trust scale, general self-efficacy scale and perceived social support scale, based on the theory of extended planned behavior, the structural equation model was used to analyze and verify the relationship among the influencing factors.Results:1 A total of 26 items were included in the scale on intention and behavior of colorectal cancer patients participating in prevention and control of surgical site infection.Five principal factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis, which could explain 67.615% of total variance.Cronbach’s α coefficients were 0.941 and 0.937,and the two-week retest reliabilities were 0.898 and 0.920 of the intention and behavior subscales,respectively.2 The score of intention to participate in the prevention and control of SSI of colorectal cancer patients was 110.32±12.69,the score of participation in prevention and control behavior was 94.32±15.59.The factors influencing the behavior of colorectal cancer patients participating in SSI prevention and control were participation intention, participation ability,self-efficacy,participation attitude, perceived medical staff support, trust in physicians and social support, there is a positive correlation between the influencing factors and the behavior of infection prevention and control at the surgical site. The direct effect coefficients of participation intention, participation ability and physician trust on the prevention and control behavior of SSI were 0.67,0.21 and 0.11,respectively.Self-efficacy,participation attitude, perceived medical staff support and social support indirectly affect participation behavior through participation intention, and their effect values are 0.21,0.11,0.11 and 0.08,respectively.Conclusion:1 The scale has good reliability and validity, and meets the psychometric properties requirements.Which can be used to evaluate the degree of willingness and behavioral status of colorectal cancer patients to participate in the prevention and control of surgical site infection.Patients with colorectal cancer have a strong intention to participate in the prevention and control of SSI,and their participation behavior is lower than that of the intention. The influencing factors of colorectal cancer patients participating in the prevention and control of SSI are numerous and complicated.Based on the mechanism model of influencing factors constructed in this study, targeted intervention measures should be taken to mobilize the intention and enthusiasm of colorectal cancer patients to participate in the prevention and control of SSI,encourage them to participate in the implementation of SSI prevention and control behavior.
