Many drugs are known to induce malignant syndrome. The most common drug-related malignant syndrome(DMS)is induced by the use of antipsychotics, anesthetics and the withdrawal of anti-parkinson drugs. As the clinical manifestations of antipsychotic malignant syndrome,Parkinson’s disease hyperpyrexia syndrome and anesthetic-induced malignant syndrome are very similar,it is easy to confuse clinically. This paper makes a detailed literature review of above three DMSs,and provides important guidances about the diagnosis and treatment of these three DMSs to clinicians.Although DMS is a rare condition with a low incidence, this condition usually progress rapidly and can endanger patients’ lives, and merits attention from clinicians. The typical clinical manifestations of DMS are hyperpyrexia, muscular rigidity, and increased levels of creatine kinase, however, the pathophysiology, treatment and prognosis of these three malignant syndromes are quite different.Prompt diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve the prognosis of DMS. |
