Objective:To study the effect of compound chamomile lidocaine gel in the local medication treatment of chronic periodontitis.Methods:Sixty patients with moderate-or-sever periodontitis were enrolled,they were treated by routine periodontal therapy,then were randomly divided into group 1 and group 2.The periodontal pockets of thirty patients in group 1were placed with compound chamomile lidocaine gel and minocycline hydrochloride ointment,respectively the patients in group 2 only received periodontal basic treatment as control group.Clinical periodontal indexes were recorded before the treatment and 6 weeks and 12 weeks after the treatment,and subgingival plaque was collected before and 1 week,6 weeks and 12 weeks after the therapy.The detection rate of periodontal pathogenic bacteria was detected by Polymerase Chain Reaction(PCR).Results:(1)The detection rate of periodontal pathogenic bacteria and clinical periodontal indexes in group 1 was lower after the treatment than before the therapy(P<0.05),and the clinical periodontal indexes in group 1 was improved than before the treatment(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between each group(P>0.05).(2)Compared with before the treatment,the improvement of clinical periodontal indexes and the reduction of periodontal pathogenic bacteria in group 2 were improved after the treatment,but the difference was not significant(P>0.05).(3)Compared with group 2,the improvement of clinical periodontal indexes and the reduction of periodontal pathogenic bacteria in group 1 were significantly different(P>0.05).Conclusion:Compound chamomile lidocaine gel can be used as a local medication for the treatment of chronic periodontitis and its clinical efficacy is as the same as minocycline hydrochloride. |
