Objective:To explore the level of cortisol hormone secretion in patients with pheochromocytoma and its correlation with catecholamine hormone secretion. Methods:In this study,a cross-sectional design was used to select patients with pheochromocytoma, essential hypertension and adrenal aldosteronoma who were treated in the first Hospital of Shanxi Medical University from June 2017 to June 2020.The basic characteristics and medical history information of the subjects were obtained through hospital medical record system retrieval.37 patients with pheochromocytoma,92 patients with adrenal aldosteronoma and 172 patients with essential hypertension were collected.Taking the pheochromocytoma group as the base group, age, gender ratio and BMI as covariables, and the clamp value set to 0.1,the tendency score was used to match the three groups at 1:1:1,and finally 93 patients were successfully matched,31 in each group. The hormone levels of the three groups and the hormone changes of patients with pheochromocytoma before and after operation were compared.Spearman correlation coefficient was used to evaluate the correlation between cortisol hormone and catecholamine hormone secretion in patients with pheochromocytoma. Results:The 24-hour urinary free cortisol in pheochromocytoma group was significantly higher than that in aldosterone tumor group(P<0.009)and hypertension group(P<0.034).There was no significant difference in other cortisol hormone indexes among the three groups. In patients with pheochromocytoma,24-hour urinary free cortisol was positively correlated with plasma methylepinephrine(R = 0.431,P < 0.01),and positively correlated with urine VMA(R = 0.374,P<0.038).There was no significant correlation between other hormones. In patients with pheochromocytoma, the levels of plasma cortisol after operation was significantly lower than that before operation(P=0.047),urinary free cortisol in 24 hours after operation was significantly lower than that before operation(P=0.017),and the content of urinary VMA was significantly lower than that before operation(P<0.001).Conclusion:The secretion of corticosteroids in patients with pheochromocytoma is increased, which is closely related to the excessive secretion of catecholamines.
