| Objective To evaluate the clinical characteristics of vocal cord leukoplakia in order to predict its benign and malignant properties.Method A total of 41 male patients with leukoplakia of vocal cords were evaluated before microlaryngoscopic surgery in our department. The texture, color, transparency, hyperemia, area and symmetry of vocal cord leukoplakia were evaluated by electronic stroboscopic laryngoscopic surgery, and the preoperative computerized voice evaluation was recorded.Build the subject working characteristic curve(ROC),determine the predicted value of each characteristic, and calculate the area under the curve(AUC).Result Histopathological examination revealed high-grade dysplasia, carcinoma in situ or invasive carcinoma in 10 cases, and nondysplasia or low-level dysplasia in 51 cases.Morphological evaluation results of vocal cord leukoplast were obtained: hyperemia(AUC=0.822),uneven color(AUC=0.812),coarse texture(AUC=0.762),large superficial area(AUC=0.752),opaque(AUC=0.712)and asymmetry(AUC=0.712)were significant for the evaluation of malignant tumor(P <0.05).The fundamental frequency perturbation(AUC= 0.952)and amplitude perturbation(AUC=0.915)in the voice characteristic index have important significance for the evaluation of malignant tumors(P<0.05).Conclusion The objective data analysis of vocal cord and the comprehensive evaluation of vocal cord leukoplakia morphology provide an opportunity to identify the low risk malignant lesions of vocal cord leukoplakia. |
