Objective:Investigating the correlation of prognostic nutritional index with pulmonary function in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Methods:In this study,150 cases of COPD patients without underlying disease admitted to our hospital from September 2018 to September 2020 were retrospectively collected as the experimental group and 150 healthy people without any clinical disease as the control group.White blood cell count(WBC),the absolute value of neutrophil,(NEUT#),the absolute value of lymphocyte(LYMPH#),hemoglobin(HB),serum albumin(ALB),fibrinogen(FIB)and other indicators were collected and recorded at admission, and the Prognostic Nutritional Index(PNI)was calculated by a formula equal to serum albumin plus absolute value of lymphocytes multiplied by five.Lung function during hospitalization in the experimental group was recorded: forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV1),percentage of FEV1 to the predicted value(FEV1%pred),and airflow restriction severity was graded according to the GOLD scale.SPSS 22.0 statistical software was used for data analysis and processing to compare whether there was any difference in PNI between the experimental group and the control group.Using the pearson correlation analysis to analyze the correlation between PNI and lung function in the experimental group.Generally,P <0.05 was considered to be statistically significant.Results:1.Comparison of laboratory examination results between the experimental group and the control group :(1)WBC,NEUT# and FIB values in the experimental group were all higher than those in the control group, with statistical significance(P <0.05);(2)LYMPH#,ALB and PNI in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group, with statistical significance(P< 0.05);(3)No difference was found in HGB between the two groups(P > 0.05).2.In Pearson correlation analysis,LYMPH#(r=0.3817,P <0.01)and ALB(r=0.7161,P < 0.01)in the experimental group were positively related to pulmonary function FEV1%pred.There was negative correlation between PNI and severity grade of airflow limitation of lung function(r =-0.7858,P < 0.01),and PNI was positively related to FEV1%pred of lung function(r =0.7764,P < 0.01).3.In the same grade of lung function, the relationship in COPD patients at stable stage and acute exacerbation stage of PNI and FEV1%Pred showed that PNI was actively related to FEV1%Pred in patients with acute exacerbation stage in the very severe group(r=0.4167,P=0.0029),while no correlation was found between PNI and FEV1%Pred in patients with medium group, serious group, also in patients with stable stage in the very severe group(all P > 0.05).Conclusion:PNI was negatively correlated with the severity level of pulmonary function airflow restriction, and positively correlated with the FEV1%pred of lung function.
