Objective To explore the effect of relief of dizziness in patients with patent foramen ovale(PFO)after transcatheter closure for patent foramen ovale(hereinafter referred to as PFO closure).Methods:Night-five patients who were diagnosed with PFO and accompanied by dizziness symptoms, treated in Department of Cardiovascular Surgery,Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region People’s Hospital from January to December of 2019,were selected for treatment with PFO closure. The selected patients were successfully treated with PFO closure.amount of right to left shunt(RLS),dizziness handicap inventory(DHI)score, visual analogue score(VAS),the average onset time of dizziness and the number of preoperative episodes of dizziness were used as the research variable, and the changes of the above variables were retrospectively studied1 month before the PFO closure and the 6th month after the operation, and performed statistical analysis. Results:The amount of RLS in PFO patients 6 months after occlusion was lower than that before operation, and the difference was statistically significant(p < 0.05);The DHI score was lower than that before the operation, and the difference was statistically significant(p < 0.05);The average VAS score for a single dizziness attack was lower than that before the operation, and the difference was statistically significant(p < 0.05);The average time for a single dizziness attack was shorter than before PFO closure, the difference was statistically significant(p < 0.05);The number of dizziness attacks in a single month was significantly reduced compared with that before PFO closure, and the results were statistically different(p < 0.05).Conclusion:For patients with patent foramen ovale with a large number of shunts from right to left, transcatheter occlusion of patent foramen ovale can relieve the symptoms of dizziness to a certain extent. |
