Purpose: A mouse skin infection model of Candida albicans was established to investigate the possible mechanism of 3% boric acid solution on Candida albicans infection through IL-23/Th17 axis. Methods: Skin of mice infected with Candida albicans, were randomly divided into blank group(healthy mice),a control group(sterile water for injection of C.albicans infected mice treated),the experimental group(3% boric acid solution treatment of Candida albicans infected mice).Mouse blood IL-17,IL-22,IL-23 expression using the ELISA assay was detected at 1st,3rd,5th and 7th day.Mouse skin IL-17,IL-22,IL-23 expression using immunohistochemical staining was detected at day7.Results:1.3% boric acid solution treatment after 7 days was 83% effective, and sterile water for injection 7 days of treatment was 25% effective, the efficiency of the experimental group compared with the control group significantly improved(P<0.05).2.The expression level of IL-17 in the serum of the experimental group was higher than that in the control group on the 5th and 7th day(P<0.05).The expression of IL-22 in the serum of the experimental group increased in different degrees compared with the control group on day 1,5,and 7(P<0.05).The expression level of IL-23 in serum of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group on days 3,5 and 7(P<0.05).3.Compared with the control group, the expression levels of IL-17,IL-22,and IL-23 in the epidermis of the experimental group were significantly higher and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).4.The expression of IL-17 and IL-23 in the serum of the experimental group reached a peak on the 5th day, which was statistically significant compared with the 1,3,and 7 days(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.The 3% boric acid solution has obvious effect on the treatment of Candida albicans infection on the skin of mice.2.3% boric acid solution can promote the secretion of cytokines IL-17,IL-22 and IL-23 in mice to play an anti-Candida albicans effect.3.The 3% boric acid solution can promote the secretion of IL-17 and IL-23 to reach the peak on the 5th day of application, and then achieve the best resistance to Candida albicans infection. |
