Purpose : The purpose of this study was to collect clinical cases of cough variant asthma(CVA)treated by Professor Hong Minli.Using the software of "Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance Assistant System(V2.5)" to analyze the medication pattern of Professor Hong Minli treatment of CVA and summarize her clinical experience in treating CVA.Methods:The CVA cases of Professor Hong Minli treated in the Department of Pulmonary Diseases,Zhangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated to Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to February 2021 were collected.the cases’ data were entered into the "Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance Assistance System(V2.5)" Software platform. The "medical records database" and "prescription database" were established, statistical analysis on the gender, age, symptoms,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndromes of patients in the database, and related prescriptions,Chinese medicines, etc.were performed, and the prescriptions were analyzed and clustered,so as to discover the potential core combination, and form a new prescription.Result:1.General data analysis: This study included a total of 90 patients and 203 visits, including 42 males and 48 females. The proportion of female patients was slightly higher than that of males. The age of onset was mostly in the 40-49 age group.2.Symptom analysis: In the analysis of the symptoms of 203 consultations, all had cough symptoms. The characteristics of cough were the most common cough at night, followed by dry cough. The concurrent symptoms were white sputum, followed by dread cold, dry mouth, nasal congestion, fear of wind and itchy throat. The most common tongue was pale red, red, and pale tongue;the most common tongue fur were thin white, white, and thin yellow;pulse was mainly taut, slippery, thinand sunken pulse.3.TCM syndrome analysis: In this study, there were 8 main syndromes of CVA,which were the syndrome of phlegm and fluid retention, the syndrome of wind-cold staying in the lung, the syndrome of pathogenic factors accumulating in Shaoyang, the syndrome of lung and spleen qi deficiency, the syndrome of phlegm-heat stagnation in the lung, the syndrome of wind strong and spasm, the syndrome of kidney yang deficiency and the syndrome of kidney yin deficiency.4.There were a total of 106 Chinese medicinal herbs involved in this study. The frequency more than 50 times including:Gancao,Banxia,Dazao,Guizhi,Baishao,Huangqin,Chaihu,Fuling,Mahuang,Wuweizi,Baizhu,Chantui,Dangshen, hengjiang,Xixin; The four natures of the Chinese medicinal herbs were mainly warm, cold and neutral ones; The five flavors were mainly sweet, spicy and bitter, the meridians of the drugs were mainly the lung meridian, spleen meridian and stomach meridian. The medicines include restoratives, diaphoretics, phlegm resolving antitussive and antiasthmatic Chinese medicinal Herb,Chinese medicinal herbs for promoting diuresis and resolving dampness, and heat clearing Chinese medicinal herbs etc.Based on the analysis of entropy clustering rules,8groups of potential new prescriptions from them were extracted as follow:(1)Zhuru,Zhishi,Jiangcan,Jianghuang;(2)Baishao,Guizhi,Huangqi,Yiyiren;(3)Bashao,Guizhi,Ganjiang,Xixin,Wuweizi,Taizishen;(4)Fuling,Chenpi,Baizhu,Huangqi,Fangfeng;(5)Hu oxiang,Houpu,Tongcan,Dandouchi;(6)Shanyao,Sharen,Biandou,Zexie,Mudanpi;(7)Wuweizi,Mahuang,Dazao,Dilong,Xixin,Ganjiang;(8)Huangqin,Chaihu,Xixin,Taizishen,Ganji ang.Conclusion:1.In the differentiation and treatment CVA from Professor Hong Min Li,the mainly syndromes were as follow: the syndrome of phlegm and fluid retention, the syndrome of wind-cold staying in the lung, the syndrome of pathogenic factors accumulating in Shaoyang, the syndrome of lung and spleen qi deficiency.2.Professor Hong Min Li treated CVA in common use with Zhigancao,Fabanxia,Dazao,Guizhi,Baishao,Huangqin,Chaihu,Fuling,Mahuang,Wuweizi; The four natures of the Chinese medicinal herbs, warm was the most common and then cold and neutral ones, the five flavors were mainly sweet, spicy and bitter;the meridians of the drugs were mainly the lung meridian, spleen meridian and stomach meridian. The main classes of Chinese medicinal herbs were restoratives, diaphoretics, phlegm resolving antitussive and antiasthmatic chinese medicinal hersb, chinese medicinal herbs for promoting diuresis and resolving dampness. The result reflected that Professor Hong Min Li pay attention to care and protect heathy Qi,and emphasize elimination pathogenic factors. The medication characteristics manifested supplemention and elimination, distribution and astringent, warming and clearing, dispersing and deseending in combination. The main actions included invigorating spleen and benefiting qi,expelling wind and dissipating cold, dispersingthe lung to relieve cough, warming and resolving phlegm and fluid, regulating Shaoyang and clearing heat and eliminating phlegm.3.Professor Hong Min Li considered that CVA recurrently occured and protracted course of disease, which was closely related to the patient’s constitution weakness. The Ben deficiency was an intrinsic factor in the pathogenesis, mostly based on the deficiency of the lung, spleen, and kidney, especially the deficiency of the spleen.Phlegm and rheum was the basic pathogenesis, and exogenous pathogenic factors was the trigger,Professor Hong Min Li proposed the view treated from of " deficiency, phlegm, wind, pathogenic factors accumulating in Shaoyang" and emphasised supporting the healthy energy, and was good at treating CVA from spleen, invigorating spleen and benefiting qi,reinforcing earth to generate metal, invigorating spleen to eliminate phlegm. Its prescription respected the classical prescription, and also absorbed era prescription, tressed the correspondence between prescription and syndrome and modification according to symptoms.
